so i beat the game today.
and i gotta say, the ending was....dissapointing?

but yea, i blew that teleporter up and it explo...freeze, i was wth?
then some wierd ass dude appear and gives a speech or some crap.
he appeared in the beginning but...who is he?
i never played half life 1 so i think im misssin out.
anyone care to explain?

it's the g-man. i doubt anyone knows who he truly is, but basically i think in both games he was basically using you to do his work for him(to take out the combine in HL2 and whoever the bad guys were in HL1). at the end of HL2, he puts you in statsis again until he needs you for a mission again.

old post, but im sure somebody else is wondering what exactly half life is about. Quite simply, the combine invade planets and use the organisms there for experiments and as slaves. In half life 1, a portal was opened that allowed "animals" from a combine-conquered planet, to come to earth and create chaos. Imagine earth being invaded, and some guy from mars opening a portal, letting all the elephants, tigers, cheetahs and any other dangerous animal to run amok in mars. That's essentially what happened in half life 1, but on earth, inside a research lab underground. That world was conquered by the combine, and now in half life 2, they have taken over the world. LOL more complicated than that though
