Well I have alot of recent comments in school that most of them are still scared of college. From what I heard from most college students they refer college as a similar thing to High School. I was just wondering if any of you seniors and college students think about this situation. As for me I was kinda scared at first, but after being aware of what I am going to do for my future and what I need to do to achieve it made me more confident inside. I know there are still seniors who are kind of scared.

Example: There was one senior girl in my English class. And we had to do a senior speech. She started crying and said that she wasn't quite ready for the real world, as for alot of seniors can relate to that and referred to her life as a child and how she grown up. I really understand how scared people are of the real world. But the thing is you should never be worried of whats going to happen in your future, all you have to know is that your gonna work hard to achieve success in what profession you would want to achieve.

Explain your deepest fears of College. I know people are scared of making new friends,
Which you shouldn't be worried about cause after all its your first year biggrin.gif

SENIORS OF 08 CONGRATS ON GRADUATION GUYS biggrin.gif

Well for me I ain't too worried. Since I am going to Korea to teach and get money biggrin.gif
After that I am flying back to america of coarse so I can enter a University.

WHOO '08!!!

Yeah I'm scared as hell.

I don't get anything about the real world - financial stuff, politics, dealing with people, finding a job, etc and have no one to ask. I don't think I could buy a plane ticket on my own or book anything I'm worried.

i'll finish my A-levels next year but yeah i'm so scared of entering university .__.
i'm living on my own in another country once i'm uni
not just another country, another continent altogether!
i don't think i can handle that x__o
i don't think i can survive without having my parents to fall back on and tell me what to do

i agree with rantasarus... i don't really know anything about the real world
i'm worried what'll happen to me next year once i have to start doing everything on my own

Thanks for the congrats.

To be honest, I'm nowhere near ready for the real world. I'm pretty scared to be honest, but what can I say? You gotta grow up one day.

I am getting a job this summer. The day I turn 18 (in late July), I am buying a ticket from Virginia to California with no money and no family. smile.gif
I think I'm ready.

I think college is similar to high school, except you're more independent and it's a lot tougher. I don't think of it as the "real world" really, but as you get closer to graduating from college it will be more so since you get internships and other job offers and stuff. I kind of feel confident about the real world though because I know what I want to do and I'm not completely sheltered from what the real world is like. So it's kind of like I'm anticipating the bad stuff already so when it comes it's not like a shock and I won't break down or somethng. It's all part of growing up and maturing.

I'm not ready at all.

-I can't cook or I burn things.
-I have to double check with my mom everytime I use the microwave about how long to keep it in.
-I don't know how to do my taxes or manage my money.
-I don't know how to drive on the freeway.
-I've never had a real job.
-I've never lived on my own before.
-I have no sense of direction.

among other things.

College isn't the real world. smile.gif

I'm not ready for it yet, as much as I tell myself I am. I'm definitely at a disadvantage too since I'll be going to a private university about 20 minutes away from home. laugh.gif

But yea, I do have a lot of fears. Of small college classes, making friends, being a minority in a dominantly Caucasian school yet living in a heavily Asian-populated area and having been surrounded by Asians all my life, hoping I didn't miss out on anything or that I don't regret anything by choosing this certain school over a larger, more prestigious UC school. Hahaha.

I'm scared I'll fall asleep during lectures, of drifting away from my close friends, of making new friends. Bleh.

Yesterday was my last day of school and I'm so not ready for college. I wasn't ready to leave highschool yet. I'm sort of scared of making new friends, living with a stranger, and being away from my family.

I'm really going to miss high school life, where everything is *mainly* innocent and carefree (at our school anyway). It just feels so sad that you'll never see most of the people you've been with for the past 4-8 years ever again. I know most people say college > high school, but I'll still miss the general environment and people.

But I think that most of this applies to Senior year. Nothing like getting out of school at 12:45 everyday and hanging out with friends until 6. Fresh - Junior year kinda sucked though.

I'm ready, but I'm scared.
I'm one of the only people from my high school going to Berkeley, and pretty much I'll be alone in a brand new environment up in North Cal when I've been living in So Cal all my life. D:

a few people said it before me but i'll say it again

college is not the "real world"

just think of it as an upgraded version of high school.

of course. i'm scared with goosebump just thinking of experience a real world life. where it's no longer a mandatory to go to school but a motivation to be there everyday and actually learning something. i'll have to kick it up a notch or two. lols. esp bills and credit card temptation.

but most of all i'm glad i'm done. CONGRATULATION CLass of 2008! it's the things we done there that are worth all of the memories.

like someone else said..........college is not the real world........not even close.......college is the protective bubble that shields you from the real world.........and college is a lot more fun than hs so you'll better enjoy it.........but if you're expecting the real world to be like college then you'll be real disappointed after you graduate.

the workload scares me the most...x_x;;
i took honors and ap classes but they were do-able with a full schedule and 3hour practices after school along with other things..
but im looking forward to it at the same time.
ill be doing things I LOVEEEE doing and plus, i'll be around people that are really into the things they are studying.
its better than highschool where we complain about doing ridiculous stuff that we find are unnecessary.

i'll be around 30 min. away from home so im not too worried about food, clothing, and all that stuff.
i think what scares me the most is the fact that...i feel like i'd be the DUMB one...y'know? im afraid that i wouldn't be prepared...
its a mixed feeling of excitement and anxiety. HAH.

CONGRATS SENIORS FOR COMING THIS FAR.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL YOU '08ers! =D
we still got a long ways ahead.
haha
