What To Give.....?

I'm studying abroad this fall, and I will be doing a home stay.
It has always been a custom to give your host family a gift, but I am not sure what I should give them.
Any suggestions?

why don't you give them something typical from where you live?

well in china, i think[i heard this from my mom]

giving oranges or fruits is good. don't give them 4 or 7 fruits.[same fruit. like don't give them 4 apples, get it?]

my mom says that 8 is a lucky number. it gives them luck? i think thats what she said.

but personally i think its ur decision. maybe...go to a gift shop? if something catches your eye, get it.
