Hi =D
so, my parents are going to buy me a car this summer. I'm not much of a car person, so wanted to get some feedback from you guys. I'm 17 girl by the way.

I know that they are not going to spend more than 20K. I was deciding either a 06' RSX or a 06'-07' Civic Coupe EX? I was looking on carmax and their both around 15K-18K. is that a good price?

Any other recommendations?

you can get a brand new 08 ex coupe for under $20,000 easily. i got mine with all the fees/license/registration for under $19,500. with gas prices the way they are these days, i think the coupe has more value than rsx (both current and resale).

just my 2 cents

also i've never driven a rsx, but i can tell you my civic handles really well (tight around corners and such). dunno if it matters for you but though i would throw it in there. speaker system for ex is also sweet...comes with subwoofer

civic is def a better deal, much more options available. unless u want something a little sportier i would go with the rsx. also if u plan on carrying a few people around the civic has better back seats. imo anyways.

I'd get the Civic, because then you can buy the newest version and it's still pretty affordable. RSX is pretty, but their design is getting kind of old now since they're discontinued.

Hrmm 15k -18k you should get an s2000 ;] hahah I'd go with Rsx. Just because of preference. I don't like the interior of civic, but its a nice car.

If you get an RSX, you'll turn more heads. I'd get the RSX.

Civic coupe, forget head turning the RSX isn't that good anyways.

I still stick to my motto for civics, you can never go wrong with them.

Out of the three that I've driven for at least a year each (daily drivers and driven hard) I've never had a problem with them. All you need to do is get tune ups for them and they're golden.

Though I don't know jack mini cooper about the new civics lol, they look better then the RSX IMO though.

+ I don't like the RSX that much.

get a brand new civic. I was going to get an rsx too. But 20k seems really steep for a used car...specially an rsx.

i would personally choose rsx (because i love the car)
for practicality in getting your money's worth though, get the civic

but rsx+some work = maaaajor eye candy and driving fun

... I don't know what to say to that.

Get the Civic. You could get one with Navi for around $20k. You'd probably have to do some bargaining because MSRP for Civic Coupe w/ Navi is just around $21k.

age does apply....

i'm sure that would be a great car for a 17 year old...i dont want to see another crashed rx7, she'd probably kill/injure herself as well...

If I get it I might wait till the end of the summer and get it cheaper w/ navi because my uncle got his Pliot really cheap. Performance wise... I heard that the RSX lags power..iono if this is true..how about the civic?

I was thinking about this too...since I'll be added on, it will be another $600.

I think that Carmax's prices are a little bit more higher than used dealerships. I think that the RSX is kinda expensive for a 2006 RSX with 12k miles on it, its $19,998 and with 29k miles on it, its $18,899.

Not many people have a red civic, it's a head turner also. RSX and Civic are very common around my area but not in red. I was think either Red because it's not common, black because its classic but too common or white but a lot of people have it.

--------------

I read some where that the interior in the RSX sucks.. is it? like theres a box underneath the passenger side? and it has a plastic interior?

THANKS FOR YOUR OPINIONS its still hard deciding but I'm leaning towards a civic.

I would get the rsx. I say so because my brother got a black one. It looks really nice already even if you leave everything alone, but now that he put some 18inch black "shoes"(Dont know thats wat he calls them dont know why he cant just say rims) on them it even turns more heads.

^Black maybe common but it is a huge head turner. I have first hand account of it being a head turner because on our way home from walmart some dude pulled up beside is and went "Nice car man" it was totally wierd but my brother was happy

If you want a head turner i would get a rsx, but if you want a just around car go for the civic.

The Interior isnt bad, i love his leather seats and in the rsx you can do alot of mods to the interior right. Like putting in some type of thing in place of the radio and stuff? There is box under the seat?

If you want i could take pics of his car and show u just pm me and i will post them up

well the civic is supposed to be an economy car..not a sports car. you're not gonna get amazing accel

i got mine in galaxy gray, pretty much dark gray but i think it looks classy. i think red is only for si (which you might want to consider as well, if you can drive stick. it'll have a lot more performance and for used still easily in your price range)
