Sigh, okay..so..I tend to be absent from school alot, i'm a procrastinator. I hardly ever do homework [as you can see, from the zeros ><] I plan to get a 4.0 in junior year...my freshmen year wasn't this bad. I have no clue what i'm doing to myself. I guess you can say my family problems has distracted me alot too.

Is there a chance I can stay back a year ? I heard you can't.. =[ I really want to stay back and do everything I can to get into a college. Summer school isn't enough since I can only make up 2 classes each summer. I tried to turn in makeup work to my teachers, but they didn't accept it since it was near exams. They saw I wasn't trying [but I kinda was..]

I was hoping to pass English with my final exam, but I was SO wrong. I got an A from my final exam but my grade is still 54% in English.
PE is too hard for me, I can't run fast. My PE grades on mile times..
Integ Science, i'm hoping to get a C since I have like 67% and probably an A on the final.
Health,History, Geometry, it's too late for those, they're like 10-30 %.

any advice on what I can do.. ?
does anyone know someone who stayed back a year because of their grades?

PS. i'm a sophomore..
>.<

there isn't much we can say, you just have to tell yourself that you need to stop procrastinating and work your ___ off.
Because even though it may seem okay now, and you "plan" to do good in junior year, when it's the time to apply to colleges, you'll really be depressed if you want to go to a good school. While everyone else gets in their dream school, you might have to accept whatever school wants you.

Talk to your counselor though, because we don't know how you can make up those classes. Unless you take 2 during this summer, retake 1 during junior year ( meaning having an extra period), and then retake the last 2 summer of junior year. There! Oh, and instead of PE can you do stuff like marching band, dance, ect.. that counts as PE credit, but easier for you to get a good grade? smile.gif good luck.

The only thing that I actually feel for you is the Physical Education thing, the fact that you can't run fast, >.<;.
Here all you need to do is be prepared and do your best lol, even if it means walking like a snail in jogging class, =x.

I suggest you talk to your guidance counselor and ask for more advice.
There's no way you can get rid of the F's now, unless it's like a mid-cycle report inwhich I have in my school to show our progress/how we're doing .. you should've thought about how to make it up to your teachers sooner.
Family problems might've played a big part but it shouldn't have gotten that drastic..
All you can do now is work your ass off.
My average once went from 93 to 87 because I was so damn lazy, kept of getting S's -___-;
It doesn't seem that bad but really, 87 is mini cooper. I got it back to a 92 though but still..

good luck!

First off, an off-topic comment: Wow you can view your grades online now. o_o

Second, talk to your guidance counselor. Like an above poster stated, we don't know how you can makeup your classes. However, if you're worried what college admissions will look at you, as long as you explain to them that family issues played a big part of your life during your sophomore year that it distracted you from schoolwork, they'll soften on you.

Just make sure to work really hard in your junior year to pull up those grades! Do you're very best! We incoming juniors are about to enter Hell!

Oh, yup! To answer the second part of your question -- yes, I know TONS of kids who stayed back because of their grades. Especially this one student who stayed back twice. I hope that made you feel a bit better knowing you're not going to stay back twice too... in a way! Ah, sorry if it didn't cheer you up a bit.

Good luck!
Fighting!!

if you want to stay back a year, i heard that you should move to a different school. then it might be better
b/c by you staying back a year, it taints the teachers'/school's reputation and they have to pay mor emoney
so most liekly they'll reject it.
you can go to a private school and by doing that you can avoid the whole complicated process of being held back.
and yeah talk to your counselor to see your options.

Yes, my school uses this system too! It's called "SchoolLoop" and you can view your grades online, store files, email teachers, etc. Also, parents can get daily emails as well to check up on their kids.

To the original poster, I don't really know what to say except talk to your counselor and try to pull up your grades so that in junior year you can show a LOT of improvement! Maybe you can get a tutor or someone to help you with concepts you don't understand. Try training for PE over the summer with a friend. It will be fun, and you can get healthy and prepare for running as well!

Good luck, and don't give up!

wow online reports
that is so coool, then my parents would never be able to see my grades lol

try to pass whatever your closest to C's with, and ask for extra credit
if all else fails
you'll have to make them up with summer school, and adult school

and please do keep your grades up junior and senior year

Dude........

if my parents saw that, I wouldn't see the light of day.

I see the "number of zeros" that you got. I assume these are assignments that you didn't do.
The only solution is to get off your butt, get off soompi, and do hw.

Ahh, the wonders of Schoolloop. x_x What to say, tough luck. Sorry I don't want to sound mean but I think that if you can get As on final exams then you should have started trying and putting in some effort early on so it's your own fault for constantly procrastinating. But I know what's that like. I was a pretty bad procrastinator back in sophomore and junior year. Even though you say that you can only make up two courses a summer, definitely go talk to your counselor now. I don't know if your district offers it, but mine offers night classes and some schools have the summer school program and let you take college courses to make it up. It's going to be a lot of work, but it's going to be worth it in the end if you really care. Heck, you can even make up PE where I go to school. sleep.gif

PE isn't about whether you can run fast or not, it's about if your time improves. If you start slowly but gradually get faster each time, that's supposed to raise your grade. So a lot of students purposely start slow the first time and then get faster as the year goes on. Unless if your teacher grades you differently. That's pretty unfair.

Best of luck.

LOL I love everyone's amazement.

Anyways to your subject, check at an adult education center. High School students can attend classes after school. I know this because my brother did it (No clue if he'll pass high school. He's border line of failing and not graduating).

Ask if you can take college classes to make up for those courses. I'm taking two Korean classes and my school will count them for language credit. You can register at a CC part time (I can only register in a max of 11 units per quarter). You'll have to fill out a form (that you can probably find on your local CC's website) the you, a parent, and your HS principal sign. That can be an option. For me and my community college (maybe all in CA or for all high school student) I get free tuition because I'm a high school student. I only have to pay fees (bunch of random ones) and books. Not bad for just fee is 40 dollars when I was expecting to pay 170 dollars plus books. This could be an option and you can possibly make it up this summer.

Best of luck! smile.gif

Eeegh. O_O
Talk to your counselor, REALLY. They don't bite, they really ARE there to help you.
If your parents ask the school to stay back, I think the school will allow it.
It's not really YOUR choice, but your PARENTS' ..

Good luck =/

I hate School Loop LOL.

Talk to your counselor as soon as possible.
To avoid being held back, take both summer school and if you can, take some courses at a community college.
I know alot of people who failed and are taking both summer school and then Night Classes at Consumes Community College.

And that is ALOT of missing assignments :x .
I would be dead for even 2 missing ones D:
