Okay, so my computer was nagging me saying that I had no memory left, so I went to delete some unnecessary programs on my computer. WELL, being he ditzy me, I clicked the wrong one and didn't notice it until AFTER I deleted it. It was something like sisaudio. Well yeah, my windows media player won't play my MP3's, but if I go to my myspace site, it'll play the background music?

Anyone know how I could perhaps recover this audio thing and re-install it? sad.gif

I need my music!

EDIT:

Sorry! I posted in the wrong part of the forum. Please excuse my stupidity!

Can a mod move this to troubleshooting?

Thanks & sorry! sad.gif

We need to know exactly what you deleted, or at least around where was the file that you deleted.

I searched, nothing by the name of "sisaudio" came up.

Okay
http://www.sis.com/support/support_prodid.htm
use that to figure out what you have.
http://www.sis.com/download/
to download the audio drivers.

I THINK that will fix it.

Edit: I saw your other reply, I see your model number.. I will see what i can find.

http://esupport.sony.com/perl/select-syste...IVER&PRODTYPE=1

^use that see what model you have... it shoould take you to the proper driver list then you can dl the sony drivers.

I had went for the company who made the sound chip instead of going through sony. Both will work, just sony might be easier... try both happy.gif

I see...
My advice right now is turn off your computer and study for your finals. I will see what I can come up with later.

I dont think you are studying....
lol

Have you tried the Sony site to see if it can identify your computer's make and model? Once you do just download anything that is related to sound or audio sans annoying music programs you know you dont need.

Okay the advice given to the other thread applies to you also.
Go run: devmgmt.msc

Look down the list, are there any exclamation points on the list?
If yes, please list them...

The statement I just noticed that is now bothering me is you said your myspace music still works.. Does windoze media player give you any warnings or errors? Because typically when you delete a folder in say program files (most people use uninstall... >_<) it wont be tied directly to your drivers but be a support package. Support package as lin like the Volume Control Program. Or codecs.

Mmkay, this gives me an idea.

Start, Run: Dxdiag
Check out the sounds and music tab. Perhaps you will see if you broke anything.. Otherwise want to consider reinstalling direct X?

You see, the reason why I am taking so many "random" stabs at things is I can't use your computer, I cant see what you are doing and im not sure what the heck is going on with it.

Oh, sorry, I failed to mention that NONE of my sounds work now. Not even myspace. ANd yeah, you're right. I was too bothered to study last night. :T

It's okay though.

When I went to Dxdiag:

sounds tab said: No sound card was found. If one is expected, you should install a sound driver provided by the hardware manufacturer.

Music tab said: To test DirectMusic functionality, click the "Test DirectMusic" button above.
No problems found.

And I tried to do system restore, but it'd only let me restore to the SAME DAY I deleted it and the time frame was AFTER the time I deleted it O_o

My computer is gay!

And when I ran devmgmt.msc

ANYWAYS, there's an exclamation on:

Media Audio Controller
Network Controller
PCI Modem
Unknown Device

WHen I double click on Sound, video and Game controller, it lists:
Audio Codecs > I think when I was going thru what you sent me, I dled THIS one instead of the sound driver?? O_o
Audio Codecs
Legacy Audio Drivers
Legacy Video Capture Device
Media Control Device
Video Codecs

And this is what it says when I try playing my songs on windows media player:

Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly.

^yep, it almost looks like someone reinstalled windows or something without reinstalling some, if not all of the non-standard drivers for your computer

any luck finding the drivers yet? if you can't find them online, did your comp/parts come with installation/reinstallation discs? the drivers should be on there

See? That makes life much easier happy.gif
http://esupport.sony.com/perl/swu-download...d_id=73&os_id=7
sound drivers you need.

Fix for the other stuff... fix sound first then go to this k?
Network:
http://esupport.sony.com/perl/swu-download...d_id=69&os_id=7

Modem
http://esupport.sony.com/perl/swu-download...d_id=76&os_id=7

I do find it odd how you can still go online without the drivers for your network though. Are you using a different card like a wireless card right now?
Did you format recently because I really doubt a bit of cleanup can cause so much chaos O_O

sad.gif its never good when you give information and they dont come back...

10:38pm more than six hours from original post of this data... >_< I hope I didnt blow your computer up...
Im good at recovery too tho happy.gif
