I don't see an issue with it. I probably wouldn't date a guy who feels like my younger brother or a kid I'd tutor (most guys two or more years younger feel like that to me) but the guy I've liked most seriously in my life was a year younger and I didn't think it was a big deal. I've been attracted to a lot of guys about a year younger than I was. Am I the only one who generally gets along a lot more easily with guys her own age and younger than with older guys? Anyway, as long as the guy can appreciate an older woman too then what's the problem?

I think it depends more on what the couple want in life, if the couple is complimentary in goals and pass times then the relationship will be more successful. For example a young guy who is very mature for his age dating an older woman because she's mature would work well. If a woman was dating a younger immature guy and wanted him to act more mature like her, then I think the relationship won't last.

There is a problem with dating outside personal age groups, naturally the couple will meet each others friends and conversations will naturally cover topics most concurrent to their age group. Now provided both of the couple have enough flexibility to adapt to the topics it won't be a problem, now if one or the other isn't able to adapt then they'll naturally feel left out of the conversations.


Picture this younger girl, older guy - meeting the older guy's friends. His friends are talking about s career advancement and superannuation funds, while the girl hasn't had her first job yet. Best she can do is nod her head and listen.
Younger girl, older guy - younger girl's friends. Her friends are talking about studying for exams and the latest pop album, guy nods his head and looks bored.

I personally think dating outside of age is fine, I'm all for it. I don't mind dating a younger or older girl as long as our goals and passtimes are aligned.
