I recently upgraded from a 1.5mbps/0.5mbps to Telus High Speed Extreme which is a 6mbps/1mbps. I recently got the new modem which comes with the new upgrade and I am not getting the speeds I should be getting. My download speed is fine at 5300 but my upload is somewhere around 450. Is there any real solution to this? Is there anything I have not changed from my old connection which was nearly 6-7 years ago. Some people are able to obtain 800 upload speed but they are using Forced ADSL1.

only best way is to contact telus
if you want, you can try to power cycle the modem

some servers limit your upload...i think...
i dont know but maybe if your residence wiring is old..it may affect speeds...not sure..
but man. thats some expensive internet plan. i only use the normal shaw high speed. =|
also remember that your computer can only send out so many packets at one time....
i think you can adjust it by going to group policy.
run>gpedit.msc i think. i haven't done it for a long time

It is not as expensive as what I was paying before. Telus for 1.5mbps/512kbps was 35.95. I am now paying 40.95 for 4 times the speed. I don't go with shaw due to my area being very high density so it is basically peak hour 24/7 so I will never get the potential speed I want so I resort with my own designated line. I get constant 600kb/s download
though when torrenting, my upload speed will affect it....

hmm. you also live in vancouver...
maybe i should switch to telus...
but you're under a contract or something? the first few months are discounted?
i still have to consider reliability, bandwidth, and if its really worth the time to switch over.
i need the internet everyday, just like everyone else. is there a data transfer limit for telus?
overall, if the download server isnt being a poopgeyser, i would get the 500kbps which is fine with me...and i dont really upload anything...

It has been fixed guys. Thanks for the help. I emailed Telus about the situation and I guess they fixed it. Now I get 850kbps upload.
The comparison I can give you is
Telus is like a faster car moving through a small tunnel while
Shaw is a lot of cars moving through a big tunnel.
Shaw will have a good peak speed but it is hard to achieve unless you live in a less dense area while Telus is always at its peak speed but its lower.
Telus Enhanced is 3mbps or constant 300-400kb/s download while Extreme is 6mbps or close to 600-700kb/s download. There is an older option in which I use to use called just High Speed which is 1.5mbps or around 160kb/s download.
Shaw will have its Nitro of 25mbps but will never achieve that. Most people I know will say they only achieve around 900kb/s download at most and sometimes as low as 100kb/s. But the Nitro is a 90 dollar package.
Telus High Speed Extreme is 40.95/month and 1st month is free if you are upgrading your contract while it is 24.95/month for 1st 6 months if you are a new customer or have not had telus service for 90 days. The shaw 40.95/month service is a 5mbps compared to the Extreme which is 6mbps from Telus. The Telus is also more stable so it is up to you which you choose.
I opt for stability over peak speed which mostly can never be achieved unless you live in a rural area.
