i know there are a couple right now...
one of them is the altima

In any case, I like the idea of Subaru heart and Toyota design. I hope it comes with Toyota reliability though.

What's reducing backpressure and turbocharged have to do with each other?

i only see exhaust coming from the right exhaust port.
on a side note, my legacy H4 non-turbo also has dual exhausts, as does the I4 cyl. altima.

Why can't a I4 car has dual exhausts?
Because Toyota owns 16.7% of Subaru's parent company- The Fuji heavy Industries. Currently, Toyota doesn't has any sports cars in their line up. The Celica and MR ceased production a few years ago.

Never said a four cylinder can't have a dual exhausts. What's the whole purpose behind it?
Good catch...but the question still remains regardless what car it is.

the tc isn't available in other parts of country! SUXXXX
Toyota needs to capture back the market shares owned by Celicas and MR2s in other countries, especially Japan, Europe and Asia. The total volume outside North America exceeds the total volume in North America. Think globally.
Why needs an engine swap when bolting on a IHI turbo will just do the job (assuming if the engine is EJ20)...
But you do have a point. Given the fact that there's a lot of car nuts outside, there will be someone who will swap in EZs.
Most of the time, it's for the looks. In some extreme cases, some will think "WHOAH! Dual exhaust! It must be adding 1hp or something"...

IIRC the hybrid engine in the ford escape is actually toyota's hybrid technology =P
although this case its more like toyota giving ford the technology rather than them working together
