Hi, im new to this sight but I was wondering, does anybody here actually do more than like 20mins of cardio? I am having such a difficult time doing 20mins much less than the recommended 45 min cardio. Like im really not too out of shape, i dont smoke,i eat healthy but cardio just kills me!! The worst is running or ellipical, how can anyone stay on those machines for soo long?? Do they know something that I dont know? I really want to makemycardio sessions longer so does anyone have any tips??

well my cardio kickboxing class is 45 minutes of intense cardio plus 15 mins of ab workout

so i guess i can stand doing cardio for more than 20 mins lol.

but for machines i usually do 45 mins to an hour

hmm it'll be a lot easier if you use videos (like turbo jam and hip hop abs) since theyr'e fun and time will pass by quickly ^ ^ believe me...a 45 minute session of turbo jam will not only burn up to 700 calories, but you'll have tons of fun too! ^ ^ trust me, it won't seem that long once you really get into it.

if you've just started, i'd suggest easing into the 45 minutes
just jumping into a full 45 minute session (or longer) is hard at first, definitely.

45 minutes isn't much for cardio it takes 30 minutes to start burning neways. adding in the warm up and cool down time 45 sounds standard for cardio !

I just plug in my IPod and go. It makes the time go by faster. I also put a towel covering the time on my machine so I'm not concentrating on how much time I have been on it.

Bring an mp3 player and then get a machine in front of a tv @ the gym so you have music to keep you going and something to keep you from staring at the timer.

If machines are too hard, then just try brisk walking for about an hour or so around an indoor track with a buddy- time goes by quickly that way.

yeah i always do 1hour on the elliptical. its boring but my elliptical is at home so i just set up my laptop and watch a DVD. you dont have to run, a walk outside can help you to shed body fat too. when im not in the mood for elliptical, i take a 6mile walk (1:40-2hrs).

20 mins is just warming up
if you can't stand doing elliptical for 45 mins, you're out of shape.

bring an iPod with ya, it kills time.

Don't waste your time with long cardio sessions. Do High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT).

i used to run on the treadmill, but since i had to run outside for ROTC, it was completely differnt. Now i think running outside is a lot better and easier on your joints. And plus, you can look around and take your iPod. when you're on the treadmill, put a bit of incline when you're more comfortable with it and take a book, music, magazine, anything that can keep you entertained. it's not that bad once you get used to it. your body just needs to adjust

It takes time, but it does get easier. I do 60min of Cardio from a tape sweatingbullets.gif
I sometimes go to the gym too & do 60min of the elliptical.

I totally agree,
it makes the running/cardio way easier
but that's my opinion. I usually listen
to something upbeat with a hard, strong beat
as well. << keeps me motivated.
Also, sometime if you think of something
that your striving for (i.e. - losing weight, fitting into a dress, or ect.)
that might help too. It made me think...
If I work harder I'll achieve my goal.
I did that and upped my
cardio by like 10 min. biggrin.gif
(btw- i do an hour of cardio on avarage like 3-4 times
a week now cause its summer.)

u slowly build up stamina to it, try adding a few minutes each time ur on it
when i just started, i could barely stay on it for 10 minutes, now (after a month and half) i go at least 30-35 min!!! it takes time, dont lose faith..oh and do something distracting rather than staring at the time meter also helps

I can do up to 50 or even more.
It's all depend on what workout you choose to do.
Like others mention, do Turbo Jam. Time pass by quickly.
I hate running. I always get bored & give up.

I do turbo jam, and the one I do most often is like 55 min (or was it 50?)
I usually follow that with a 20 min workout lol

you gradually build up.
