Most of their lyrics tell a story for each song. Some are continuous, some aren't.. but it's interesting to see music portrayed that way.
It's also nice to see a Japanese band that deals with great music, aristocratic European style, and vampires.
They've had performances in the US recently- first in Akon, and second in the LA Knitting factory.. here's my account on the latter:
THE LA SHOW. it was effin amazing.. best night of my life? quite possibly.
first of all, i ended up getting an amazing view- front and center on top of the speakers- it doesn't get much better than that. got to touch all of them, shook hands with all but Yuki(drum), made eye contact with Kamijo (at least once), hugged Hizaki(guitar),.. the list is endless.
The rose petal that Kamijo(vo.) kissed in the beginning but dropped down in between the speakers where no one could reach it- i stayed behind so i could pick it up ^^ Definitely worth having to buy the merchandise a bit late. (they ran out of T-shirts though! *sigh*)
Versailles had a lot of energy- Kamijo has an amazing stage presence.. not to mention the fanservice was orgasmic <3
Teru(guitar) is extremely adorable, Jasmine You(bass) is beautiful and has amazing twirling techniques XD, and Hizaki is super fan-friendly with also great stage presence.
Really, my words don't do the band justice so i'm just going to stop.
All in all, the night was bloody amazing.

i really wanted to go to their concert in LA!! but no one wanted to go with me.
darn~ i wish i could've found someone to go with me..
you got to hug HIZAKI!? when when!? lol did they have like a little meeting
before/after the concert?
you should post pictures of this amazing band. they're so beautiful~ i love their outfits. =D

The songs aren't too bad. I don't know if I'll really get into them though. My Visual Kei fandom kinda stops in 2003.

Visual-kei band Versailles has announced, via Sherow Artist Society, that they are having to undergo a name change due to trademark issues with an artist from the USA who performs under the same name. Due to Versailles' activities within the USA, the band has opted to undergo a name change to avoid legal action against them.
Versailles has requested that their fans send in their suggestions for a new band name via e-mail, with plans for the new name to be comprised of "Versailles" plus their favorite suggestion by a fan. Applicants can send in their suggestions from August 19th to August 31st.
If you wish to send in your suggestion, please visit the Sherow Artist Society official website for further details.

phantasmagoria's post in jrock_rant community @ livejournal
Now she's bragging on her MySpace that she's THE Versailles, etc etc and she as well as others are accusing the Japanese Versailles of stealing "her name" and "her music" on iTunes.
So she threw a lawsuit at the Japanese Versailles for "stealing her name." That's the entire controversy, since only she can bear the name "Versailles" in the entire UNIVERSE.
I have a huge problem with the American pastime of flinging lawsuits around, but this just gets under my skin. With the snobbish way she's behaving over the whole thing, it's obvious she only did it for money/publicity. Yes, this will make you liek soooooooooo populer.
go check out the thread. Yea. she's full of fail. 8D

And it kinda sucks that they have to change their name. =/ The name Versailles fits them so well.
And OMGOSH. They went to the US? How could I have missed it? >_<
Wahh, you're so lucky to get to see them. Must have been a kickass night.

I saw them in a Purple Sky magazine few months ago..
Decided to check them out since Teru looked like a manga character, literally.
<3
Here's some pics from Teru's blog.

I don't know them much yet--I like them so far (I'm a little behind w/J-rock), but the first thing I thought when I read their description is the manga/anime, Rose of Versaille, not that it has anything to do w/ their choice of name. Versailles=French nobles+ vampire angle. If they had the name first, she really has no reason to win any lawsuit. And if they write thier own music, why would they need hers? As for her claim that they're stealing her songs--have they ever played any of them, or done them on stage or CD, claiming they were their own?
maybe they'll deny her lawsuit. too bad they have to change their name because of this. It shows something that they're willing to do it even though the whole thing is wierd. People could tell the difference. (edited because i don't want to knock her)--I don't know how long she's been 'Versailles', but her attitude is -----. It's not like they stole it from her.
it must take them hours to get ready.
edit: can someone please tell me what the name of this PV is at the very beginning?

I don't think it's a Versailles, PV, LOL, which you probably know.
I wanna guess Ayabie though. [Looks like Aoi]
It's probably not because I don't even listen to them and I'm not a fan.
EDIT; OMG, I was right.
Ayabie - Sakura Mau Kisetsu Ni PV
Haha, and the uploader was an Ayabie fan.

LOL, no I didn't know! It went so fast, and I thought I saw Aoi, and I was confused (I don't listen to them very much--and have never seen any of their PVs at all, but at least I recognized him). >< Yesterday was my first time seeing any of Versailles PVs---I'd only heard them before. Thanks for telling me.
I'm kind of curious about their ages too--but I notice many singers/musicians have only their birthdate listed--which is actually fine, because some people are weird about age (some fans I mean -.-)... what they do matters, not how long they've been alive.

A friend of mine put me onto them a while back. Good stuff (nothing I've really been obsessed with so far; but I haven't listened to them nearly enough).
Must listen to some more of them x)

If you guys like Versailles, check out Hizaki Grace Project. Its the exact same band minus Kamijo on vocals. Instead its Juka, who I prefer more
