Hypermilling is inflating your tires the max they can, low viscocity oil, and drafting.

meh not worth the hassle. if someone was drafting my rx7 they'd probably pass out from breathing unburnt HC's

I've even heard of some cases where people will cut off their engine when they are at 40+ mph, coast for a bit til bout 20 then crank the engine and accelerate again..
in reality you're not saving that much by inflating your tires, drafting, and the odd extremes
also, throwing it in neutral and coasting won't benefit either

Inflating the tires to the max isn't safe... if the tires get too hot, it can burst because of further increased pressure. Warm to hot tires can be 4psi more than cold so if you push it to the max you really do risk a blow out. Plus the increased pressure in the tires can also cause it wear out faster (which will cost you more $$$ in buying new tires than money saved on gas).
I mean I can go to a extreme to save gas, but its not worth it for me (IMO), because the risks of doing it isn't worth it.
I also want to say that if you have a trip computer on your car, use it to see how your driving behavior affects MPG. If you have a vehicle that doesn't have one, but is 1996 or older (OBDII) you can buy a little OBDII computer that can trouble shoot and clear check engine codes and act as a trip computer, calculating overall MPG and instant MPG. Its called ScanGaugeII.
The irony to buying the OBDII trip computer is that it costs $100+, which would take a long long while for you to save that much in gas before it becomes worth it. lol.
The best way to save gas is to not drive when you don't need to (walk, bike, public transportation, etc).

Haha thats funny.
I guess people in Maximas and SUVs here love to draft, cuz my rear view mirrors are basically useless most of the time with their grill up my butt.... then again how can you draft behind a car that is significantly lower than you lol

Things he does
Push his car out of his garage
Coast like 10-20 mph coming off highways
coast to stop lights
turns off his engine when coasting
drive like 50 mph on highways
accelerate 0-60 in like 20 secs
inflate tires to max
no window and no a/c
drive like 6-10 feet behind 18 wheelers

Actually, I do 0-40 in 20 sec
People hate me when I drive, but whats the big hurry anyways, people always drive like they are delivering organs for surgery or something. Get up earlier for work, and those lazy bums wont have to race their beater down the road at insane speeds.

What's the verdict on turning off your car at stoplights and while coasting?
I've heard it costs more gas to start up your car each time.
But you know, I'm not a fool. I'm not going to listen to word of mouth backed up by zero research and experimentation.
Anyone know the REAL answer?
Going into neutral while coasting would be the better option than turning off the car....yeah?
