My phone only plays MP4 video files. However I have some videos that are also MP4s but whenever I transfer them to my phone, a window pops up saying that my phone doesn't play this file. I have 2 videos that are also MP4s but I have no problem playing them on my phone. Are there two kinds of MP4s? Is there a converter where I can fix this prroblem?

EDIT:
I have a Samsung F250

If possible get http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ then open the video in the program. It will tell you about the working video and hopefully provide the information you need to copy and apply the settings to the converter.

Can you provide information regarding your phone's model? I know programs that can convert videos for playback on the phone, but specific instructions on how to use the program would require that you know exactly what your phone CAN play...if you don't know just post what your phone model is.

A fairly easy to use program is MediaCoder, and another one is Xvid4PSP.

Are you sure that your phone supports video playback? Some phones may just not be technologically equipped to play videos. The manual of F250 has no mention of video playback capabilities.

One workaround I can think of for this is though, take a very short video clip with your phone and transfer the resulting video file to your computer, see what kind of file it is (file type, codec, resolution, etc.) Then you just modify the settings in the video converting program to match that of the video taken by your phone. - Note that mostly likely this will result in a bad quality video so it may not be worth all the trouble. Sorry I couldn't help more.

Edit: from a quick google search, it is confirmed that your phone supports it. Try Mediacoder. Once you have it installed, go to extensions -> mobile phones -> and use the profile "generic mobile phones". Then just drag and drop the video file to the Mediacoder window to start converting, the resulting file should be playable on your phone.
