Dvi-d,vga/d Port i have a question for you soompiers ^^

Well heres the deal im getting a brand new moniter yay! ^^ havent had a moniter upgrade for 5 years lols >_< anywayss. Since im getting this moniter i wanna watch TV on it because i have a cable line in my room and i always wanted a computer/tv moniter but the problem is that the one im buying doesnt have a input for the cable line and i wanna know if theres like some sorta adapter i could buy so i could watch TV. please help a clueless guy here <--

well, im assuming this monitor doesnt have a tv tuner so you'll need to buy one for your PC. i'd recommend you look for a cheap PCI TV tuner. Some brands: ATI, Hauppage, etc
they look like this:

and they are to be installed in a PCI slot (white in the pic below):

they usually have s-video, composite and coaxial (what you called a "cable line") inputs so you can watch TV or hookup a console or whatever.
also, there are HDTV tuners which are usually PCI-E slot based and are more expensive. you need a PCI-E slot, which the older computers dont have, so dont get those. there are also USB-based TV tuners which could be another option...

i think some of samsungs' monitors have a built-in tv tuner as well. i think their MP series.

Oh cool ^^ well what do you recommend for me to get? I would like quality but i am currently in a tight budget =(

Or if you're looking for a monitor with that extra input, first check if you're cable box have a S-video or Composite output. The Dell FP monitors usually have S-video and Composite along with a new USB ports. I use mine for my consoles but I can hook them up to my Satellite box if needed. Generally the 20" monitors goes for less than 300 and has the extra input that you're looking for.
