Urgh! I hate myself for being lazy and procrastinating all the time. dry.gif I thought taking history during the summer would be easy...but it's not it's worse (at least for me cuz I so hate history and the fact that I have to right a 3page essay each week is driving me nuts.) I'm thinking of dropping out of it and try to retake it during the fall semester but you see this would be my 2nd time withdrawl from this class...and that can't look good on a transscript right? Or is it still better to have that than have a failing grade? I kind of think my lack of motivation has to do with the fact that I'm mostly at home all the time...and don't have a job like I did the other semesters of college...though I could just be making up excuses for my lack of interest in history. sweatingbullets.gif I need the class to transfer I know that but right now I think I wanna focus on finding a job so I'm not penniless later when I need the money. But I dunno if withdrawing is really the way to go. What should I do? tears.gif

If it's harming your grade, then yes I would drop it
thats one of the things i learned..because it's gonna drop your cum gpa if u are really doing that badly.
if you just have to work a bit harder though, I'd try keeping it.

you're just going to have to deal with it next semester.. i'd stay in the class and try to make the best out of what you're learning. withdrawing does look better (at least at my school) than a failing grade, but you shouldn't use it every chance you get. unless there's an awesome job out there waiting for you, stay in the class.

not to be mean or rude, a 3 page essay shouldnt be a big deal in college. i think you also need to polish up on your spelling too. i know its hard because its summer and all you but you should try to focus and finish the class now. even if you take it a third time around, youll probably end up with the same problem and consider dropping it again. if you were applying for anything after college i would be very curious on why you would withdraw from the same class more than once. most likely, youll have to write a short paper on why you withdrew if you want any chances of applying to other places. i dont think being lazy or not wanting to do a 3 page essay will be a valid reason. get your act together and finish the class now.

If it effects your GPA then you should withdraw and retake it next fall.

Also, the three pages of essay a week in college is not bad especially you only taking one class and you don't work!!! Essay shouldn't be in your complaint.

Almost every class that I've taken in college had essay as part of the requirement. You must make it as part of your life and grow accustom to it.
.
Using excuses such as you're not interest in HIS. is not going to make your problem with History any better. Instead, you should go to tutoring center and try to see your professor in his office hours to talk about it. (Talk about what you don't understand and ask him to explain it for you)

Maybe if you see your goal clearly you will try harder in school. Ask yourself why you need this class and how is this class going to benefit you in long-term.

My advice for you is to choose a major you love. When you have a specific goal in mind you will overcome these classes easier.

Right now, you have no real direction of what you wanted to do; therefore, you feel uninspired.

Stop going online too much and get yourself a planner! Finish your goal each day then reward yourself with free-time to do your favorite thing.

Well, withdrawing from a class twice already isn't going to look good at all, IMO. Just remember that you must pass it in fall or it just won't look good on your record period, at least when applying for graduate school.

I just withdrew from a class, Program Design, because the professor was just horrible and wouldn't even help us on test reviews and projects, which is horrible for people who's trying to learn how to program. Especially since it's summer and I'm trying to absorb this stuff. Anyways, don't procrastinate and three page essays is not hard. Especially when it's history because it's all there in front of you. You just have to put it together.

Hmm...if I were you, I wouldn't withdraw. First of all, you hate it already. Summer classes are usually very short, can you stand taking it for a semester if you hate it so much? Just suffer the few weeks you have of it and finish it once and for all. The more you postpone it, the more you'll just dread it.

Ahh... well you shouldn't have slacked just b'cuz it was a summer class. Summer classes are more accelerated, so it requires a lot more time on average. At this point, if you can work your butt off and get at least a 'C', I would say stay in the class. But if you're really going to receive an E/F, then withdraw! Two 'W's look better on your transcript than having a failing grade!

then instead of complaining and worrying if you're gonna fail, why not just do it. pass it. get it over with?
because you already tried it, and dropped out of this class before. i'm assuming that this was not in the summer? so what makes dropping out this summer to take it in the fall any different then the last semester that you took it? your schedule will be just as busy and this class is gonna be just as hard. you want to get it out of the way, fast.

if it really doesn't work for you, then why not try a different history course? i'm assuming its a GE? there should be other classes you can take that would fill that GE and spark an interest in you at the same time.

and besides, good luck finding a job this late in the summer =x

sorry this is going to be harsh but i have seen your threads about this... so i have to tell you the truth.

if you keep being lazy... you will keep withdrawing... so suck it up and study for the grades.

and seriously ?!?!!? you're complaining about a 3 page essay??? COMMON NOW... you're not in highschool or elementary school anymore. i don't even complain and i have to write 15-20 page essays.

seriously now... u got no one to blame but yourself. you are going to school to benefit yourself. take this advice and motivation to do better and change your lifestyle please... if you know you're not the type to get good grades while being lazy then smarten and start owning up again.

if you know there isn't any other course that can replace this one or be more interesting just DO IT. you need it, it's mandatory for your program so just do it. because if you don't guess who will not be in school anymore? You. History course is still going to be there other students are still going to take it. but you will end up with a bad GPA and probably out of the program.

so... are you going to sit there and blame history for screwing you over? no, you'll sit there at the ending blaming yourself for being so lazy for not studying for it. you know you have the ability to get the grades if you keep working hard but because you don't, you will get what you deserve. don't let yourself down like that.

also your focus is also wrong... job over school? you're in school right now, school should be first. if you need a job to pay for tuition and you know it will affect your studies take the term off and just work full time. alot of students do that and it's the safer route knowing that you are the type that needs time to study and do well.

Reading the above posts, most people are against your circumstances. I guess you should outweigh the pro's and con's in regards to your situation. If you find that History is a bit complex for you, then IMO i think you should withdraw it & study it during fall when you are feeling more confident. IMO, just do what suits you best!

I'd vote for toughing it out. I think you'll probably regret it if you had to go through this class again.
