Recently I burned a DVD with a ratio of 16:9 and played it on my widescreen HDTV. However, parts of the sides are cut off so I can't view all the subtitles. There doesn't seem to be an option for turning off the overscan in the menu. Is there another way to fix this? Maybe with HDMI cables? Or is it possible to just connect my laptop to the TV and fix this?

You can set the ratio of the video.. I think its on stretch or zoom rather than the default. Its a tv option.. not sure how yours is.

It supposed to come out perfect in Normal... if thats the case it might have not properly handled the video during the conversion process.

perhaps you should set your aspect ratio of your video file to 4:3.....since your tv supports that one, but not 16:9
