Where's everyone working this summer? We poor college kids need money too. smile.gif
I've applied for a couple retail positions already but has anyone ever done car sales? I hear there is alot of money to be made... I'm gonna try and apply at some dealerships this week.

Me too. It's so hard finding a job! Most people want permanent or long time employees which sucks because I can't work during the school year. =[

Car dealer? Don't you need a license to do that? Coz it's like a career, not really a "summer job" kind of thing I thought

It helps to establish a really good connection with managers and whatnot.

I've worked at a local Chipotle(It's a "Mexican Grill", they have really good burritoes and what not.) every summer for the past 2 years, and I plan to apply again this year.

You get free Burritoes, and the pay is like 12.00 per hour, which is pretty high.

I went to my local Chipotle, where a friend worked, and he put in a good word for me. I don't know if that helped. I applied at the store itself, which helps, since it's a franchise operation.

i applied to so many places like rite aid and CVS this was my 1st time working and i think
they wanted someone with a job experiance. So i went to the mall i was so desperate for a job
hahah ( the mall is about 15-20 mins highway {30-45 local} i didnt want to drive this much to work esp.
with how much gas is but none of the local places would call me back =[ ) i was gonna walk in every store and
ask for an application but my friend told me that you can just go to customer service and actually ask them what
stores are hiring and they have a list. So i went to Macys went to a HR department filled and application right there
they asked me to come back the next day for my interview and i got a job.

Did they ever teach you, or did you ever go to barber school? I wanna learn to cut my own hair and wouldn't mind doing this a few days of the week.

Most places won't hire people just for summer because then they would have to find other people to re-train for the jobs again once you guys leave. It's a good idea to apply for a job before you get out of school or ahead of others.

I want a second job...I mean, I could get hours at my current job and earn more than at some random retail place or something temporarily...But my office gets kind of hectic and I really don't want to be working more than I should especially since I'm taking classes this summer too. I also want a little something else to add to my resume, so I think a second job could help.

Summer jobs are so hard to find especially after the high schoolers get out so earlier the bettaaQ
But one thing you could do is LIE that u want to work full time and during the college year as well.
Say that u are COMMUTING to school and would Definitely work during the fall;) then u mite get a "summer" job:) hope that helps^^

lol. Luckily for me, I am continuing my year job over the summer. So it becomes my summer job. tongue.gif Every summer in the past though, I have tried to work at different places to get more experience. But yea, my sister has been looking for a job since May and she hasn't found one yet either! Summer feels like it's almost over, but she's still trying. I'm still hoping she will too! I also hope you who are looking for one will find one too.
