http://www.igametester.com/

I was wondering, because I heard that you need degree to get paid to play games, but this one says you just need to be 18 years or older, nothing of requirement just 1 year experience? >__<;; And then you have to pay $34.99 to do it and you can earn up to 100 per hour. But, is this true? Because I'm worried if this is a scam. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried this site. Not for me, but my boyfriend because he still has problems with his ingrown toenail so it's been a pain for him when he walks so yeah :[ So I was wondering if anyone of you guys are members there, and tell me pros and cons, thanks!

any job that requires you to first PAY to work is fishy... and "up to $100/h" is somewhat rediculous for a position like that... i think game testers get anywhere from $10-15/h, which is far from $100/h crazy.gif. i think game testers are usually hired, in-house, with the original developer company, and not to outside contractors, but dont quote me on that. also, i know EA, for one, does their beta testing in house. also, the only people who can play games before release are usually reporters and the press.

ive seen other employment scams, most involving the "be your own boss" or "work at home and earn $XXX/h" types. crazy.gif and to get hired for any of these, you usually need to put in an initial payment. suspicious much? blink.gif

you should just get your BF to look at the local game companies in your immediate area and apply directly.

I agree. You shouldn't have to pay money to get a job. I remember all those pyramid schemes made you pay money too.
Some say i'm a genius, others say i'm crazy
but they all say i'm a little on the weird side

The above link is what you pay $35 dollars for (basically the above is ALL you get). Doesn't say much that the product you're buying is a single web page which is publicly accessible. This is a complete scam using legal loopholes to make money.

And you don't need a degree to test games. >_> You just need a decent knowledge of the English language to do quality assurance stuff (checking for English bugs in the game) and a decent attention span to sit and play for hours to catch errors. To get to be a game tester depends on the company. Sometimes you need to know someone to get in because it's popular and competitive. Or you can just keep sending your resume to nearby game companies.

As someone who has worked in Game QA before and have many friends still doing it, I'd really like to know where these people being paid $100/hr to do QA are LOL.

Never trust these sites. They're all most likely 98% scams. I foolishly tried one of the 'work at home' types last year, but for my $60, I got a book on how to make money while working at home. I didn't get paid for all the work I did in one month though. So, yeah. They can be so convincing especially when they appear in newspaper classifieds. That's where I found the one I signed up for. Another thing you need to watch out for are all the scam affiliate programs that send you bogus mail and phone calls. There's also that whole "You've won a cruise for 2 nights" crap where it's legit, yet there's a catch to it in order to reel in some money. Too good to be true. Everyone would be quitting their jobs and going for these types of opportunities. I'm never falling for it again.
The only thing that makes sense about life is death.
