Supposedly even handling a tomato with Salmonella is bad
since it can spread to your hands, counter, utensils, etc.

but if they are from the market and all, you'll get salmonella.
BUT! my brother says that the only safe tomatoes are the
grape tomatoes that you eat with salads (store bought and
home grown). if you bought roma or other tomatoes (much bigger
than the grape toatoes) from the store, then you can't eat them.
same goes with cantaloupe.

*after searching it on yahoo*
i think there's no asian country mentioned on the affected areas, unless of course tomatoes on your country is imported from those country then be cautious.
since i am a hundred percent sure that our tomatoes here are from local, then i dont have to worry much. tomato is part of almost all our recipe here in philippines. i love it fully cooked
