So I have this layer of fat thats wrapped around my body
that i'm trying to lose. My only problem is that my diets are
horrible. I can never stay with it, mainly because I made
the diet up. But I've herd so much about the Atkins diet
I was wondering if it really does work, and if its healthy....

simply put, NO, the atkins diet is a very short term thing and the least ideal for what i presume a young person like you. The atkins diet puts its emphasis on eating more protein and cutting down on carbs. meat>wheat. here's the thing: upsetting the balance of protein and carbs has negative effects on your body. Atkins dieters have been shown to have increased the likelyhood of cardiovascular dieasese and other somatic problems. The lack of carbs, lessens the amount of energy you have in store thus putting you in a fragile state. Carbs is the major source of energy of our body, depriving yourself of that is like asking for trouble.
In case you are persistent in trying this diet I suggest doing a lot of research and taking to heart what I just said, modify it to include more carbs.
Dieting should not be a temporary thing it is a lifestyle, so be prepared.

It's nice to see some reasonable posts around here. They are completely correct. Doctors found out that this diet actually doesn't make you lose weight from fat, but weight from water! Everyone losing weight off this diet were actually dehydrated and their arteries and heart muscles showed signs of erosion.
Personally, I think the best lifetime diet you can do is to just watch how many calories from fat you take in. Refined sugars would be a secondary concern. Things like natural sugars, total calories and carbs are not that important in the big picture.

i don't think atkins diet are healthy....eating lots of meat makes u smelly...
y dont u try eating unrefined carbohyrdates instead of eating the refined one..
eat lots of veges n fruits...
eat lots of soy products n cut down ur intake of meats n oily stuff..
exercise is important too...

i think i have said it before but i ll say it again.
NO low carb diets work.
it will make you lose weight, however once you start eating carbs again your body cant handle it and it will absorb all the carbs and it will turn into FAT.
trust me i ve seen this happen heaps lol.

Lolz...I did this before...ON and off.
And yes I'm doing it now for a month.
HOnestly It works but it never work in the future.
I need a crash diet so it's a way to go.
But you should try to exercise & clean out all the toxin every week.

when u go on the atkins, you need a period of 14day introduction phase (they have a fancier name i forgot..)
i went on it. and in the first 7 days you were supposed to consume no more than 20g of carb a day..that is equivalent to half a can of coke. so i basically lived on garden salad + 1 egg all day, no dressing.
i lost 1kg per day, for the first (and only) 3 days = 3kg weight loss. woopee huh? thought i could sneak a normal meal in buh woahhhhh... the next day, 2kgs came back..
so i dont think it was real fat i was losing.
however, my frd has this diet that worked. i watched it work. but it may be a little extreme, if ur interested pm me and ill send it to u =)
she went from 58 to 49 in 1month.
