so.. my dad bumped the car on one of those parking lot lamp things and scraped the corner of the bumper on our odyssey.. it was dented in when he brought it home but it just poped out when we pushed it a little sweatingbullets.gif but there are several paint scraches or scuffs.. what would take it out? i washed the car and tried claying.. which btw is amazing on the paint haha makes it really smooth sweatingbullets.gif .. i was thinking of going out and getting a magic eraser and trying that but dont know if it'll get rid of it.. is ther anything i can use to get the paint marks off? i'll post a pic tomorrow because its dark and my camera needs to get charged..

Tried a rubbing compound? If it is deep into the paint, than try to repaint it with those small paint bottles are autoshops.

well i hard about rubbing compounds but heard they can be rough on the paint so.. i don't really want to try that.. and we're trying to avoid getting the bumper repainted as its too costly.

the paint isn't that deep.. i can get some off if i use my nail but yea i'd prefer using something to get it off rather than sit there and try to get it off with my nails.

if u meant like the paint from the pole is on ur car, i used a buffer.... but the thing i s when using a buffer, you cant just keep it pressed up on a car's paint... use your judgement when using a buffer...

lol... did the paint actually come off the bumper? cause if thats the case i don't think anything would make it go away.... get one of those auto touch up markers that match your bumper color from auto stores. It won't look the same... but better then scrates. or Better yet get a bumper sticker. biggrin.gif

there are some areas where the paint scraped off but the car color is sage brush metallic so its kind of hard to notice that paint is missing. there's only a little paint missing..

so i'm waiting for my dad to get back from work with the car, and if its not raining, i'll upload pics so that you guys can get a better idea..

where can i buy scratch-x or any of the products you guys mentioned?

You could try some of those weak concentration of paint thinners n blend the cars paint over the scratches

yea i would def. not use paint thinner.. wouldn't that just take the paint off the bumper and leave me with a big spot of unpainted plastic?

would scratch-x take the yellow off?

it should. try one of the small unnoticeable spots first and see how it works out.

it will take a good amount off
that looks exactly what happened to my mom's car just in a different spot and white paint

do by hand first then if u have an orbital or something use that
but yea if theres paint missing it wont fix that but it will get the yellow off
u can go to an auto store place like autozone or kragen or pepboys
i guess target or walmart has that stuff too

meguiars scratch-x

so I went out and got the scratch-x and some nu-finish wax. It took a lot of elbow grease but its all gone now.. just a few spots missing paint but not a big deal as you can;t really tell much.. I washed the hood, and the bumper of the car, clayed the hood and bumper, and applied a coat of NuFinish wax. The paint feels soo smooth now biggrin.gif now I just need to wash the rest of the van and clay/wax the rest of the van ph34r.gif

i'll post pics tomorrow as its really dark right now

thanks for helping guys.

ahhh I didnt mean the actual paint thinners >_< its like ones used for road signs and stuff to remove graffiti and all that junk, I used it while doing some community service hours, took the top layer paint off and left the bottom one.

and you guys are right, i was just thinking about those other products (which I don't know what they're called) that blend the cars paint over scratches and stuff

-edit: They're some kind of wipes or something, they work well with signs so i was thinking why not cars, i should know, i used the normal solvent on a sign took the paint right off >_< but i used the wipes and it worked pretty good, only thing is i had to scrub real hard to get the taggings off the sign, because the thing was a really really weak ocncentration and is designed to not take the paint off right away, but instead little by little and eventually the top layer comes off, but of course if you keep rubbing the sign there with be a thin spot on it too. It's just a suggestion and sorry about the stupid remark up there, I should have been more specific.
