Gosh, Hyolee's such a sweet girl. I'm happy her album's doing well. Although I thought the songs on her first album were a lot more jumpier and catchy, but her vocals have definitely improved now. Good for her. And about her songs sounding like this and that - I don't really care. If nobody had mentioned it in the first place, I wouldn't have even noticed Get Ya' sounded like Do Something or what not. I don't even ever find myself comparing how similiar one artist's songs are to another. [if any of that made sense] *shrugs*

Anywho's, track 02 & 10 are starting to grow on me now.

imo, she improved, vocal wise.
even though her songs aren't original, at least I could listen to it without fastforewarding or cringing. (I'm sorry, but her first album really made me cringe, even though I liked the songs.. its just her voice.. )
I'm starting to like her second album after listening to it over and over.

exactly my point. i didnt like her first album cus i cringed when i heard her voice--but now, i love it and i think that even if it's not as powerful as other people, her voice fits her really well (not saying shes talented). i personally love this album.

and yay that it's 4th...and 2nd.

Well im one of those taht pointed out that a particular song sounds like some other song. but its not like shes the only one doing it. I wasn't bashing on her. sorry if you guys think im making abig deal about it. I seriously thought she would find her own style though.

Yea, some of her new songs do sound like Britney and Ciara. The first song, Get Ya, sounds like Britney's Do Somethin' and the second song sounds like Ciara's 1,2 Step. Personally, I love her voice, but she's just gotta find her own sound, but she's not to blame. I'm guessing she probably didn't compose the songs' tune or background music, so she may not know her songs sound so similar to American songs.

err its not crap talking. And i do understand the lyrics, don't assume.

i never said i wasn't a fan, i am a fan. why else would i post so many pics of her in here and other places?. im just one of those who dont LOVE LOVE this album as much. But the songs are growing on me.

Okay...I just remembered that I said I'd tell you about my experiences with Hyori and totally forgot about it after her album released. >< Sorry if you guys were still waiting to hear (I'm sure you were all taking up your time on her new album as well, anyway ^^)

Well, for those who still wanted to know--the first time I met her was about 4 years ago during the time FinKL sang their 4th album's "Young Won" or..."Forever" if it's translated in english.
Well, it was backstage of MBC's broadcasting studio after a show of Music Camp and I had went to watch when I was visiting Korea. Well, my mom knows somebody who works there so I gotta easy hookup to meet some stars. I met 1TYM (They were AWESOME. I have another story to tell about them, too. If you're interested I can tell you that as well ^^) , Shin Seung Hun, Jang Nara, Sugar (I didnt know who they were back then) and of course...FINKL.

Actually, it wasn't like a whole introduction thing where our hookup personally introduced, but I spotted them and I was like OMG!!! It's FINKL!!!!!

So, I went to them and asked for a picture to Sung Yuri when she was alone and she kinda gave an annoyed look but still took a pic with me. After the other girls came with their manager, their manager was like "Go Away!! NO PICTURES!!!" and started pushing me like crazy. (I then realized Yuri was really nice even if she gave that look because after seeing the manager..I don't think FinKL were allowed to take pix at certain times.) I was really sad and young back then so all I could do was be in disappointment. So--I was like, "Well, can you tell Hyori that I'm her fan and I think she's really pretty?" ( Hahhahha...stupid me. )

He was like "Yeah, yeah back off. No Pictures." And Hyori said to her manager, "Why don't I just give her an autograph, then?" The manager rolled his eyes and was like "Fine." YAY!! So she smiled and I gave her my book of blank papers and she signed for me. I was like YES!!! and then 1TYM was around so I was talking to them and my mom was with Hyori when her manager went away for a second and my mom told me that while he was away, Hyori was autographing something else of somebody's but she had agreed to take a quick picture of herself with our camera~~ My mom said I was too obsessed looking to 1tym for her to bother me to take a pic with Hyori. So...when I got my pix back, I gotta pic of Hyori cheesing. (If I find a scanner, I'll post them pix + autograph if you promise not to bring them out of this thread.)

Then, the manager came back and the elevator came so FinKL had to go. They went in and I went to say bye to them. Hyori smiled the brightest and said, "Bye~~ ^^" (In Korean.)



THENNNN After a couple years, I went back to Korea and met her again heckuv times.

I saw her at an autograph session, but she didn't remember me from the MBC place (duh...she meets thousands of people.) I saw her and I was like saying something in engish and she said, "Whoa! Are you from america??" and i was like "Yeah~ Howd u know?" and she said, "I can tell~ You just said something!" and i was like, "Oh...sh.it really?" (Didnt realize it) and she kept asking me questions about America and why I'm in korea, etc. etc. etc. I didn't even have a chance to tell her "UNNI UR SO PRETTY!" She seemed so interested in AMerica. I told her that she has a lot of fans in America that think she's so gorgeous and cool and she seemed to have not much of an idea about that. I thought, 'ummm...yeah---just go to soompi.com.' After she gave me her autograph, I walked away and I heard her say, "Bye~" in english. Haha. Man, but I was so jealous because she totally knew the next fan after me and even knew her name. Like if her name was Suh Na, Hyori was like "HEY SUH NA!! COOL haircut!!" as if they were friends.

Then after a couple months later, I realized it was my friends' birthday coming up and she rly loves Hyori so I went and found another autograph session to get one. I went and when I went up, Hyori was like "HI~" again. I aked her again, "You know who I am?" and she was like "Of course~~ Why wouldn't I know you?" and she got one of the pix she needed to autograph and asked, "What was your name again?" And i told her, "Oh no..not me. It's for my friend." And she was like, "Okay--spelling~" So I spelled out my American Named friend and Hyori wrote it all out. hehehe.

the thing about britney's song...it's like, everytime boa, hyori or any female solo singer who has a new album and a new song, people always find a way to say: It sounds like Britney, this girl, monica, this other singer...

Hyori is only on her 2nd album and still trying styles out, cut her some slack..

I have not listened to the full album yet but even if the album sucks I still love Hyori.

If your in the music industry you know all kinds of music doesn't matter what part of the world you are from. 10 mins, heyboy, do me, anymotion, anyclub , etc. they weren't copies of anything.. so i expected her 2nd album tobe like that also EVEN though it contains different music genres

Really, I think that Hyori's sorta smart for doing similar music - Britney and Ciara are crazy popular, and Hyori wants in on it. If she were to do something original, which would be awesome, it'd be hit or miss. I dunno if that made sense but yea... ("._.)...

But honestly, I think Hyori'd have haters no matter what. All singers have haters, its inevitable . To each their own.

But you know, its weird - people always say Hyori has a bad voice, she can't sing live, etc. There are lotssssss of singers that sound okay on CD but can't sing for peanuts live [*cough* "I can beat Hyori" *cough* ], but no one hates on her, I mean THEIR voice. ("._.). IMO, people have this expectation that all singers need to have fantastic singing voices, where they could sing ballads and hit those high notes like that. Hyori isn't the best singer, but for the type of songs she sings, her voice is hella hot. Like Ivy has a great voice, but songs like A-Ha do nothing for it. Hyori has a avergae voice, but she knows it and sings songs that compliment it.

Ok this is random but I was just thinking of James Blunt [and for Aussies, Missy Higgins] as an example. Both they're voices are , but their songs are crazy popular - because they have good songs, and unique voices which they use to their advantage. Much like Hyori. IMO a lot of people like singers who have the same kind of voice [and it gets kinda boring ]. Like if you got DBSK & Super Junior & SS501 and told them to each sing the same thing, I wouldn't be able to tell them apart. Even Bin & ChaeYeon, I would have trouble differentiating between them. Hyori has this husky, sexy voice - it's unique.

God I'm just ranting and raving - most of it probably doesn't make sense but I know what I'm saying ("._.) [and maybe Janice too because we seem to read each other's minds ] but yes.

And I know everything I said was totally biased towards Hyori, but what can I say; I'm a Hyori lover for life. <3

LOL Yen you rock! i agree with you, Hyori doesn't sing all that great live, but in the first place she doesn't exactly have to, so who cares that she can't sing powerful ballads like OJH or LSY?

and there's more to being a celebrity than just having the talent for it.. you need to be able to reach out to others (especially your fans) and stuff like that. that's why I love Hyori, so whether or not she really makes a musical impact, i don't really mind.
