I think I'm getting braces this summer and I wanna know how much they hurt >.< And what kinda pain is it o.O Like...a pressure-pull type pain or a stinging pain?

And...I don't wanna look any different T___T Like...my friend's lips bulged out when she got braces and she looked crazy.gif I wanna be able to look the same when I smile or when I close my mouth, is that possible? >.< (By smile, I mean just the shape of my mouth, not what's...inside o.O)

Braces really aren't that bad.

When you first get them, of course your lips are going to bulge out in the beginning because they feel weird and it's different, but eventually you get used to them.

The pain.. isn't that bad? You might have to take a tylenol but I never did. It just pulls your teeth and stuff. I might feel weird at first, but then haha sorry if this scares you, it just gets numb and you don't notice that it's pulling your teeth.

Have you had any teeth removed yet? It's not going to be that bad compared to having your teeth pulled out. Don't be scared! =)

I currently have them.
I don't know about you guys, but mines hurt soooo bad.
I was crying my eyes out 2 hours after i got them on. hahaha.
It doesn't really sting, its more of pressure-pull pain.
It only hurts 1-2 hours after you get them on and everytime they tighten the wire. (well, for me atleast)

Mines really only hurt at first cause i had to wear rubberbands when i first got them on which like,
gave my teeth a real good pull.

Just be prepared not to be able to eat anything but liquids for a few good days.

I don't look any different.
Just lost some weight which slimmed down my face..
which is a good thing for me. hahah.
My lips don't bulge out though (:

Mine only hurt when I got them tightened every month and it was just for a few days. And it only hurt when I put pressure on the teeth that were tightened. I have them for about 2.5 years. You will porbably hate them when the are on, but trust me, when they are taken off, it's completely worth it.

No pain, no gain.

It hurts especially when they tighten it and you can't eat hard stuff. I don't think it would change your smile, at least if you smile with your teeth showing, there would be just a metal showing.

I'm getting braces this year, too (most likely, if not, then the latest will be next summer).
I'm really considering Invisilign because I'm so scared of the pain :X haha.
That, and I already have fat lips and I don't want my lips to bulge out anymore than it already does T_T.

Aw well, there was never unbearable pain for me but I guess it might be different for others. I heard having to use rubber bands hurts kinda bad, but I never needed them.

I think braces are cute, though. =) Nobody cares if you have 'em and once you're done your teeth will be nice and perfect.

i hated braces, i couldn't even eat soup! it's always better to get them sooner than later though. braces will affect your mouth depending on its shape. don't worry about it looking crazy.gif lol, there are people who actually want "fake braces".

The pain you experience kind of makes you feel like all your teeth are crammed too close to each other.
At least that's what it was for me and my friends when we first got braces ohmy.gif
When you first get your braces, it'll feel pretty weird to speak or smile with them, because your not used to metal sticking out of your mouth..
But it's not that bad.
And umm, the first few days, I would highly recommend taking some sort of aspirin.
Most of my friends with braces as well as myself felt a LOT of pain when we first got them.
Oh, and when you first wake up in the morning, your braces may make your mouth hurt like heck.
I'm trying to be honest as possible, because for a lot of people, getting braces does hurt, but maybe you'll be lucky and won't have any major pain xD

for me i never ever had pain with my braces (except the first week ><), the tightening never hurt at all but i only needed to have them on for a year/a year and a half. The only pain is sometimes the little hooks on the braces at the front rub against your lip and you get like blisters or callouses (spelling? ; p) yeah those hurt but you can get wax to put over them so that never happens.

and im quite sure your lips wont "bulge" out you dont even notice = ) and its all worth it in the end to have perfect teeth!

i think they're cute.
than again i have them . :3
its all worth it for that perfect smile in the end , rite?

they don't hurt me at all, not even when they tighten them.
I asked my orthodontist why is that, and he said something w/ increasing technology? haha, idk.

but they did hurt for like a few days/a week when i first got them on.
you catch on to them pretty quicklly, so they're not that bad.

There's pressure-pull type of pain and they don't really make you uglier..honestly, I think a person should be more worried about crooked teeth than how they look with braces lol. It doesn't bulge out ginormously; you'll get used to it. It's only that you might need more "shut" to keep your lips closed than before.

The process of putting them on might hurt or annoy you a little (or taste gross), the first hour doesn't really hurt, but after that the pulling-pain sets it (just imagine someone forefully pushing all your teeth together). After a week or two it doesn't hurt anymore, although it still might bug you to chew really hard food.

You have to go back about every month to get them tightened or whatever the orthodontist wants to do, but it doesn't hurt. You still feel the pulling, but it's less painful&usually can't feel it after 1 day, and honestly, I somewhat liked it when they tightened my teeth because it meant they were actually doing something useful and not just wasting another month with braces on lol (I don't have them anymore).

Anyway, it's not that..ugh; braces will probably be your best friend for the next couple of years if you get them ph34r.gif

I am getting mines in 3 weeks, ohmy! =_=
But first.. they might put spacers, then afterwards.. they start to put in the rubberbands?
And then you come back 2-3 weeks later, you put it on.
It depends on the face structure too.
I don't think it'll budge out too much, ya know?
I'm currently semi hiatus at the moment due to school.
*still pm me please, although it might take awhile to reply!

I have braces. For the first week or so they do hurt, but after that, it's not that bad for me. I've had them for a little over an year now. It is a little sore after they tighten your braces, but it's not too bad in my opinion. Then again everyone's different, I have a friend who couldn't eat at all after she got her braces tightened ... but, that's probably like a day or two every one or two months.

As for making your lips bulge out ... it's hard to get used to them at first so for the first little while it might seem like your lips are bulging out a lot, but it really doesn't make that much of a difference once you get used to it. Though, there are some people who need to get teeth pulled because there's not enough space, and if you don't get them pulled, it can make your lips bulge out noticeably since there's not quite enough room.

When you first get them, it's very uncomfortable because the braces get caught on your lips and it irritates it, but after awhile you'd get used to it. But for the teeth, I always thought it was the annoying type pain... as if the pain is kind of like an itch.

its a pressure pull, but it doesn't hurt hurt, it just feel weird and it only hurts when you are trying to eat.
i still look the same with braces, my mouth doesn't look bigger, its just theres metal in my mouth. the only time your mouth area will look big is when you first get them and its kinda puffy for a couple of hours because they have to keep that thing in your mouth to make it wide open. a lot of my friends tend to forget that i have braces.

It hurts when you first get it then you get used to it. The only time it will hurt again is when you get it tightened.. when you put pressure on your teeth (eating, just biting down) it'll hurt. Call me weird but i sometimes liked the pain LOL.. sweatingbullets.gif

I had mine for 2 years, i got them off 8 months ago and it's really worth it. It makes my teeth straighter and no more gaps.
