im an upcoming freshmen.
and unfortunately, i've really never played a school sport, despite phys. ed. and tkd

this is my first year.
i'm 5'10 and 213 lbs. 18% fat

in the beginning, i wanted to play football, because i wanted to vent my anger and hit people, make friends, and really just play a sport.
but, after a few months or thinking, i REALLY want this to be a good experience.
as i think about it, my sister went to an expensive school, and had to get maad loans from every where, but i don't really wanna make my parents
pay soo much for school, that i really might just end up giving up on.
don't get me wrong, i'm an honor roll student, but i'm not the type that can get a scholorship for being smart.

although i never played organized football, and idk how good i am at it,
i really wanna be good at it. (our school has a 4-6 record, and improved a LOT, and if we do bad this up[coming season, i'm moving..really)

but to be good at it, i need a strong mentality, and i have to put 120% of effot into it.
get stronger and faster to be the best.

but really, i need advice/help on any of you high school footballers.

to most kids, they just wanna play.
but to me, i wanna play FREAAL, and be good at it.

positions i'm considering:
linemen/LB (most likely)
tight end
runningback/fullback (good chance)

lol... In my opinion as a freshman u dont need to lift that much...
I'm gonna be a sophomore next year and last year was my first year of football too =P

d/w about it too much... the main point is too have fun freshman year...
Our coaches always told us... the only year that matters is when we're on varsity... so yeah... haha =P

The freshman team before us had a 8-1 record... we had a 0-9 record XD
Freshman year is like... basics and then conditioning... coaches don't really expect u to lift... or at least thats the way it is at my school =P

your coaches will tell you for sure dude. You're a big guy, probably either D-line or O-line, I don't know about being a back since that depends on your speed. Fullback maybe though. You might lose a ton of weight from all the conditioning though so who knows what you'll play. Get to know the rules and you'll be on a quick learning curve as you practice and get game time in. Have fun.

yeah, planning on losing hell of a lot of weight,
AND the team doenst have fullback, and have a ton of bigger linemen than me.
and i'm fast for my size, beat a linebacker at a 400

mottos:
-have fun but be serious wen u have to
-put all out each play
-never give up, no matter how hard it gets

Your size is almost perfect for RB. But if you're only a freshman and already that tall you should go for offensive/defensive lineman, tightend, wide receiver, or linebacker.

yeah, i wanna try for these positions:
runningback/fullback
tightend
linebacker or defensive end- idk if i can handle those other linemen in the league, but i can sure can trick the tackles and sack
there are taller kids than me on freshmen team, and since we're automatically on JV, doesnt really matter,
and those 6'1 kids are really scrawny and slow, QB or wide reciever material.
there are other kids that are like 5'7 ish, black, fast, and experienced, but i saw him lift...he lifted like 2 months earlier than me, and i have a better
bench and a hang clean from 3 weeks of lifting.
idk...i dont wanna criticize too much.

but i just wanna be good at it

and one more reason why i want it:

- asians are a huge minority at our school. and asians are underestimated, and mostly stereotyped as smart kids (like everywhere else)
but our school really has like 15 asians? outta a 300 person school, and i'm basically the 2nd least smartest (i'm in the honor roll)
but basically 2 older asians play football, and they arent really amazing -__-
and i wanna set a new standard, no wat i mean?

If you think you can be linebacker or defensive end I'd say go for linebacker. If you can cover well and stop the run/pass rush well then the versatility would get you far. That would allow colleges to be able to put you at DE, LB, or even safety if you end up being a little small.

Just know that football is more mental than physical. I played some college ball and i had all the physical tools but mentally i was weak. It was PAINFUL! Hang in there, though. HS should be much easier (:

I play Canadian ball, but the rules are essentialy the same-I didnt start until I was in Grade 9. Community team gave me a chance and they took me-at lineman.

Started 5'11 240 and had a good first year.
Second year-took some preseason training-6'0 225 still lineman-started all my games.
Now going into my 3rd year-and moving a class up im 6'1 205. Dunno what im gonna play yet.

At your size and weight-You'd probably play D-end. Offensive lineman-if youre in the states-HS ball probably wont take you at that position unless youre willing to gain about 70 pounds and get 5 inches taller over the 4 years you play ball.

But your body size is perfect for most skill positions and because of that you could play anywhere from TE to RB or even QB (if you can read a defense and have a REALLY good arm).

But all that doesnt matter unless you have one thing.

Desire.

All that stuff I said up there wont matter if you dont have Desire. You need to leave it all out there on the field during practices and on gamedays. But I guess you have that.

Football is a learning process-even if you dont know much about the position youre put in, learn from the people who do know and build around that, then you'll be killer.

My season starts in 3 days XD.
Chasing the good life, whatever that really is. If I'm so blessed to reach it...I cant wait to share it with those close.

i'm atsa btw.
uhh, our coaches REALLY suck at putting people at their right positions.
so i'm at d. tackle, and o. tackle, where as twice, i've juked varsity linebackers before, but i must admitt i'm not SUPER fast, but i get the job done.
i got 2 sacks and 3 tackles in 2 games. and i'm on kick off.
