Losing Weight With Ddr?

I've been told that you can lose weight with ddr. Is it true? And does the level effect the results? (Like if you play on beginner, can you still lose weight?) I get Bs in beginner, and right now I get Cs and Ds in Basic. Does basic help you lose weight or do you have to do difficult?

Depending on the person, I think you can lose weight playing DDR.
Because a couple of my friends play on the higher levels and they're pretty much sweating and out of breath by the time the round is over.

If you play and sweat i think it does
have an effect on loosing weight.
the more you play the better. smile.gif

There was a story about a guy who lost
a lot of weight from ddr.

i think you can, i saw it in a news somewhere.
cause you move your legs and if you do the difficult levels, it goes fast, so it's like excerising.
anyways, i just started DDR, and it's pretty exhausting. smile.gif

I wouldn't expect to lose weight on anything except expert. Anything other than that isn't much of a workout IMO.
I think there's a calorie counter of you have it for ps2. You could try that if you're counting calories.

^ haha yeah, doing the easy stages I don't think you can loose much :x
I play standard (The one after light), but I don't play it to loose weight, I just play for fun :x
but it does get very tiring after a while :x

Sorry, but you're gonna have to do better than just beginner if you want to lose weight.
Keep playing and you'll definitely improve. You have to be on AT LEAST standard mode to get to the point where you're doing actual CARDIO exercise. You need to keep your body moving at a fairly quick pace, beginner and light mode require hardly any effort at all.

Whenever I use DDR as a workout, I do a run of a few harder standard songs, then switch off to heavy mode for a while, then back to standard for a while for a little "break", then back to heavy mode, etc etc etc, all in one workout.

Work your way up, then you can get real exercise with DDR.

i was really into ddr for a while and i wanted to be really good so i put it on continuous and on expert level and it was really tiring. i stopped because i got bored.

I find DDR a great way to lose weight. Except the difference between me and you is I play heavy and you play beginner. o__o;; I don't think beginner would help much... Yoga would be better option.

yeah they have it on ps2. it sucks tho
cause i rmb i tried it on the either light or standard, cause i just started off..
and with each song, it was always under 100 calories.

i played DDR for about 1 hr per day for 2 weeks.
I lost 5 lbs so for me it does work and it's fun.
at first i sucked but after a while i got freaking better
and was playing the fast songs which really burned the
fat off my thighs because of all the movements (:
hiatus; September 2009 Back!...in a way :)

^ Oh yeah. I lost weight in my legs the mostly, I felt so happy when I saw changes every day!

I lost 2kg playing DDRMAX (since DDR and DDRMAX is pretty similiar..) and alittle bit of jumprope. I play 1 hour or 30 mintues mostly. I think people should play the standard mode when playing game mode and when your playing the work out mode, make the speed faster. Works better. :]

it can be cardio, lol. if you play fast enough, your heart rate will fly and then you can sweat like a pig biggrin.gif i used to stay in shape with ddr. it was fun until i got bored of playing the same game.

I actually does. Since your sweating & burning calories.
I dont think i actually lost weight. But my legs became lest jiggly & more toned ^-^
I been playing it for like a month. But then i got to lazy lol.
So i just sticked with walking 30 minutes everyday.
But i hafta start playing it again soon. My legs are becoming jiggly again x.x

Yea it helped me ALOT when i was chubby and had nothing to do, but then again i was pretty obssesed with losing weight that summer so i kinda starved too.... but don't do that, i dont recommend starving and ddr-ing at the same time, it's HORRIBLE. Always eat a small snack or something or just make sure ur not hungry when you do it so you actually have the energy to ddr.

But since you're just starting on Beginner, it's really basic steps and within a couple days of continuous ddr-ing you'll be in basic in no time. I dont think you have to be in difficult to lose weight, as long as you're moving those legs, sweating, and find it to be challenging i'm sure you'll be burning those calories.

I think DDR is effective for weight loss on the expert level, or difficult level (heavy or standard). I lost 13 lbs from DDR on expert, so it does work! I equalize it with jump rope or something, because you're jumping in one place.

well i did it and i lost 15 pounds in 2 months. it was soooooooooo fun and i couldnt stop
but the difference is that i played in the hardest level which is challenge. however i did start where you are and i worked my way up.
ALSO another factor was that i was a vegeterian. so i didnt eat much fat. also i ate healthy like veggies and fruits a lot and drank water most of the time
