Because a couple of my friends play on the higher levels and they're pretty much sweating and out of breath by the time the round is over.

the more you play the better.
There was a story about a guy who lost
a lot of weight from ddr.

cause you move your legs and if you do the difficult levels, it goes fast, so it's like excerising.
anyways, i just started DDR, and it's pretty exhausting.

I think there's a calorie counter of you have it for ps2. You could try that if you're counting calories.

I play standard (The one after light), but I don't play it to loose weight, I just play for fun :x
but it does get very tiring after a while :x

Keep playing and you'll definitely improve. You have to be on AT LEAST standard mode to get to the point where you're doing actual CARDIO exercise. You need to keep your body moving at a fairly quick pace, beginner and light mode require hardly any effort at all.
Whenever I use DDR as a workout, I do a run of a few harder standard songs, then switch off to heavy mode for a while, then back to standard for a while for a little "break", then back to heavy mode, etc etc etc, all in one workout.
Work your way up, then you can get real exercise with DDR.

You can get a full body workout if you dance with the song then using
only your legs.

yeah they have it on ps2. it sucks tho
cause i rmb i tried it on the either light or standard, cause i just started off..
and with each song, it was always under 100 calories.

I lost 5 lbs so for me it does work and it's fun.
at first i sucked but after a while i got freaking better
and was playing the fast songs which really burned the
fat off my thighs because of all the movements (:

I lost 2kg playing DDRMAX (since DDR and DDRMAX is pretty similiar..) and alittle bit of jumprope. I play 1 hour or 30 mintues mostly. I think people should play the standard mode when playing game mode and when your playing the work out mode, make the speed faster. Works better. :]

I dont think i actually lost weight. But my legs became lest jiggly & more toned ^-^
I been playing it for like a month. But then i got to lazy lol.
So i just sticked with walking 30 minutes everyday.
But i hafta start playing it again soon. My legs are becoming jiggly again x.x

But since you're just starting on Beginner, it's really basic steps and within a couple days of continuous ddr-ing you'll be in basic in no time. I dont think you have to be in difficult to lose weight, as long as you're moving those legs, sweating, and find it to be challenging i'm sure you'll be burning those calories.

but the difference is that i played in the hardest level which is challenge. however i did start where you are and i worked my way up.
ALSO another factor was that i was a vegeterian. so i didnt eat much fat. also i ate healthy like veggies and fruits a lot and drank water most of the time
