FIRST OF ALL I DON'T EVEN KNOW IF I SHOULD PUT IT UP IN THIS SECTION.. ITS EITHER HERE OR HEALTH

MY WISDOM TOOTH IS COMING OUT AND IM REALLY SCARED TO GO TO THE DENTIST BECAUSE OF ALL THE STORIES I HEARD. BUT MY FACE SHAPE IS CHANGING ON ONE SIDE BECAUSE OF TOOTH AND I HAVE SWOLLEN CHEEKS.

CAN ANYBODY TELL ME THEIR EXPERIENCE WITH THE EXTRACTION?

ITS ALREADY SLOWLY OUT OF MY GUMS BUT I KNOW I HAVE TO TAKE IT OUT SINCE ITS SO PAINFUL.

Do you wanna hear the truth or lie?

Truth: It DOESN'T hurt. For real I ain't bsing you. If it really hurt that bad, I would remember it til this day. And I don't so it wasn't that bad. I don't even remember which part hurt, the needles maybe.

Oh yeah and I still have to get the other side taken out. I'm alright with it, but just make sure you eat ALOT of your favorite food before going. You won't get the chance once you're out, because it has to heal.

I dont know but I think that pain is different for everyone.
NOt to scare you or anything but my sister got her wisdom teeth out and she said that she went sick or something afterwards but dont be scared. She is week so I think you can handle it better. You will be fine! you dont know, you have to try it out first.

Omg you sound like me. I was sooooooo scared. I had to get it taken out. It got infected. Honestly while he's doing it.. it doesn't hurt. He cut my gum pulled it out ( some people have to get it crushed D: ) and sewed it up. It didn't hurt while he was doing it. It just feels weird. o.o After though ... i'm not gonna lie .. I CRIED like a baby. Like literally. Sat on my bed and just cried. It probably hurt a lot worse since I had an infection. You're gonna have to do it so just man up and do it before it gets worse.

The upside is that .. since you're in pain .. everyone does everything for you! sweatingbullets.gif
They give you pain killers too. They gave me tylenol 3 ... I was expecting vicodin. dry.gif

LOL, my wisom tooth on the right this time is coming out. surprisingly, it isn't hurting as much as it did for my left one.
and i could already see half of it.

-even though you're scared to go to the dentist, you don't have much of a choice but to go. and you should go asap. because for me, i've waited through a past days since it was really hard to make an appointment (since the dentist office was closed ever so often). and when the day came, i found out i got an infection. ;(

thats why it hurt more than usual. and i mean, it REALLY hurt. disregarding Naimie's post.
the minute the dentist gave me a shot for the anesthesia, i began crying. (and i don't usually cry that much for shots).
and since i still felt some pain, he had to insert some damn more. -3-

but during the procedure, you can't really feel much pain. you could feel them all the tools in your mouth, but no pain. especially for me since i was too busy crying my ass off.
but i felt a tint of pain when he extracted my tooth. :X and then i cried some more.
and my dentist was like "stop being such a BABY! it's all finished now, would you like to see your tooth?"
and i was just pissed and wanted to go home, so they stitched me up, and i just took my jacket and left without saying goodbye or thanking them. disrespectful of me, but i was in too much pain.
and on the elevator down, i couldn't stop crying.
the whole procedure was a nightmare to me for the whole day. i kept on getting flashbacks. it was scary.

but yes, thats the baby way of telling the story. smile.gif

Haha our stories are so similar except I didn't cry while he was doing it. I cried before cause I was so scared. I know .. it's sad. I was 20 at the time. A 20 year old crying. sleep.gif You should've seen me at home. I cried like a baby. Lol. I can feel my other one coming out but i'm too scared to go once again. My wisdom tooth was HUGE!! Freaking huge. I should've asked him if I could keep it. sweatingbullets.gif

Taking them out really doesn't hurt. I used the laser and honestly I almost fell asleep it was so boring. I think it hurts more after the whole thing. But it's not like "i'm going to die" pain and usually you can take advil to make it hurt less

My wisdom teeth hurt more before (infected gums) than when I got it pulled out. It doesn't hurt at all. If you can feel anything while they're pulling it out, just ask for more anesthesia and it'll be fine.. good luck! biggrin.gif

it doesn't hurt.
what hurt for me was when they gave me shots on my gums to numb it.
but it's the same shot as what you get at the general dentist if you have a cavity that's deep.
it doesn't hurt. trust me. you'll feel pressure, but no pain.

i don't have my wisdom teeth yet,,, even if i do i don't feel anything
and they wont hurt when they pull it out
it's called an anesthesia
you do get like an aftermath though
when the anesthesia thing starts to wear off,, yeah good luck

Extraction didn't hurt. I was asleep, so, lol. I got all 4 wisdom teeth removed ...

it was just the time AFTER the surgery that it really hurt. Couldn't eat certain kinds of food, drinking a certain drink made me sick, and there was a little bit of bleeding but not too much.

I was asleep the entire time and got all 4 out before they grew in. I was fine until the pain medication wore off. I took longer to heal and my face was swollen like a chipmunk for 2 weeks. I didn't really eat because it hurt too much. lost 10 lbs. sleep.gif Also, Vicodin didn't work at all for me... I felt the withdrawal symptoms but it didn't do anything for the swelling or pain. so I didn't have any pain medication for 2 days, then my mom bought some cheap Advil. I took it, and it worked. so weird. but I think it depends for each person... some people were fine after a week and their faces didn't even swell up that much.

Don't be scared...I mean I've heard it hurts but only afterward...not DURING.

2 of mine in the bottom have come out already, but I'm not having mine pulled out since they don't bother me in any way and don't make the front teeth crooked or anything.

They say "crush it" but it really isn't as bad as it sounds. They have like some cutting device and just cut the tooth into like 1/4th crazy.gif OK that sounds bad but after they cut it up, they just popped all the pieces out. Not nearly as bad as what I remember when I was little and had to get a tooth pulled out I remember yanking and all that... but this was just like pressure then they pulled things out.

mellow.gif Novocain worked soo well the only part that hurt was when they stabbed in the needle.

dry.gif yes... the stuff after that was not too fun. But hey, just remember lots of people have to go through it and they survive just fine!

i got mine out when i was 16 i think. if your going under general anesthesia .. it doesn't hurt at all..you'll free a bit of pressure that all.. after you get your teeth out. your doctor's gonna give you pain killers to stop the pain
