There was so much good buzz about FLC and I really want to take advantage of this...for those of you who don't know what FLC is, it's basically a set schedule for freshmen to have with 24 other students. you see them in everyone of your classes and it's basically a great way to get to know other students, because you'll be seeing them all. The particular learning community that I wanted to join was more focused on my major, but I didn't get it. so I signed up for this random one instead.
My intended major is Linguistics and I want to take at least one foreign language class my freshman year.
My two electives are intro to sociology and media, culture and society.
It's one WHOLE SEMESTER. would it be more beneficial to be involved in FLC, or just get a reg. schedule?
should I stay in this program or should I just get a regular schedule and forget the whole program?
after writing this, I'm seriously thinking about changing my schedule now. LOL...
has anyone had FLC before? share stories please!

Haha, if my school had that I would so do it. Haha my worst college fear isn't not being able to keep up with the work lol, its being alone.
honestly... you're not half as special as you think you are.

FLCs are great ways to meet friends in college because they basically put people together. It would have been great if you got into that FLC that you wanted, but, it might not have been good to sign up for a random FLC. Even still, you will meet other people who are different from you and you can enrich yourself. I recommend you read up on the "random" FLC you signed up for and see if it something you like or not.
Generally (I think), people sign up for a FLC because they want to meet up with other people and have a helping hand in their studies. So everyone should be friendly.

The only benefit with FLC is that you don't have to register yourself (except for one class) and you're guaranteed a spot iin your cluster classes.
Other than that, I don't think it was worth my first semester
Another disadvantage is that you don't get to pick your professor/class time.

FLC is good, at first i was very hesitant and angry that i signed up for one when i didnt know i signed up for it >_>
well ends up, it helped me transition to college life.
you actually get close to your classmates and it feels much more better than having reg classes
