Personally, I think the 50s/60s had some of the coolest car designs ever, why did the business change in the 70s/80s to more blocky boxy look? Only now in the 2000s do we get more aerodynamic design but still not as cool as the 50s =/

because 1 tail fins are lame and 2 its not aerodynamic, tail fins add drag

the 2nd car is borderline fugly imo. probably has poor visability, no turning radius because the front wheels are blocked, no side mirrors etc etc

Because apparently in the 70s and 80s, boxy was apparently futuristic. The cheese wedge shape was futuristic back in the day too.

Because they would look ridiculous these days. The classic styling looks great on classic cars because they looked appealing to consumers then. Who knows, some characteristics of them might come back some day.

I don't know what to think of the 2nd one. Is that a newer design or something that was designed decades ago?

'cause they're not aerodynamic?
i think they can look good on some cars, but only on classics
they would just look ridiculous on more contemporary cars

also factor in pedestrian safety, that is one reason why they stopped making pop-up headlights, which i thought were cool on some cars.

Yeah I was wondering about that, I loved the pop up headlights!! But can you imagine driving one of those classic cars down the road? Probably get alot of stares but so nostalgic haha
