I'll be honest - I can't swim very well. But if no one's around...? Of course I would dive in to save the kid.
If there were other people, however, I'm sure someone else will step in b/c like I said, I can't swim.
But since I'm alone w/ this kid, I'm sure I would attempt to save him/her. I wouldn't stand there and watch the kid drown.
And I wouldn't be able to leave the scene (to call for help) incase he/she drowns in the meantime.

i saved my kid cousin when we were at the lake. i was so scared, but i did it anyway. but man, when i went to save her, she kept panicking (i don't blame her) and kept pushing my head under the water. -__-

but yeah, the same thing happened to me when i was young. i didn't know how to swim at the time and some stupid friends of my cousin brought me to the 4ft area and left me there. my cousin was out of the water and saw me. i remember her running in to save me. her friends are lucky i didn't remember their faces! >_>

I would save the kid of course, but I'll follow the safest procedure, i.e. use a tool to help pull them out of trouble.

I've saved my father twice from drowning and also performed the Heimlich maneuver.

Yes. Especially if i'm carrying around my certifications. i'm not a certified lifeguard but i'm a certified assitant lifeguard(i failed my lifeguard test, don't laugh, it was hard for me >.<). Although my techniques might be a bit rusty but i still know how.

I was at this lake when this kid started drowning 'cause he swam too far and this dude went to save him.
The kid was safe, but unfortunately, the dude drowned himself

It was horrible. There were 2 helicopters flying around.

i read some papers about those good ppls who jumped in n tried to help but finally they've killed themselves either.
so i think it depends on how the situation is, if its so dangerous you should find the others help or call the rescuers but still do ur best to help.

Yo I can't swim either.

Maybe I'd scream for help while searching for anything big that floats and throw it near to the kid.
Maybe I'd scream and run until I find a person.
Maybe out of instinct I'd jump into the pool, only to add the burden to the savior on saving two lives.

But I'll never know how I'd react until I get to experience it. Of which, I hope I will never have to encounter this.

Welll at first I will get a better look if they are really drowning LOL....then I just take off some clothes like shoes,jacket and vest/bag and jump in the water save the kid...
