3 years ago..i was swimming at my cousins house with 2 cousins and a little girl (3 or 4 years old). she was my aunts friends granddaughter. we were supposed to watch her while she was on the little steps (on the shallow side) in the pool since she couldnt swim. then while we were talking on the shallow end of the pool...we didnt see her run to the deep end of the pool to stand on the step there. during our conversation about whatever..my cousin ross (the one facing the deep end) opened his eyes really wide and started shouting "shes drowning shes drowning!" when i look back..i see her arms above the water flailing around while her head was going up and down up and down trying to get up. i guess she thought there were more steps like on the shallow end..but there was only one..so she stepped down into the deep pool :[
i was soo scared!! me and my cousin richard started swimming over there as fast as we could while i was yelling "HELP! HELP!" when we got to the deep end, i took the step and climbed out of the pool while my cousin lifted her up above the water and i pulled her out. we sat her on the chair and she spit out water and cried nonstop saying "i couldnt breathe! when i tried to breathe i drank water!"
me and my cousins felt soooo bad and stupid and irresponsible..even now
it was our fault she almost died O_O
oh yeah..and her grandma never found out. i know..we're bad. we just didnt have the guts to tell her we almost killed her granddaughter.

but i would get help or try....
>___<;; so you are saying you can't swim, right? o.o
Haha, I'm not heartless! I just can't swim O _ O I'll probably run around screaming and find something I could pull them in with.
I'm not heartless either, I just can't swim :[ And yeah I would do the same, find an object to pull them out >__<;;
o__o and you are afraid of heights, but you still saved your cousin well you are very sweet ^^ and wow 5 floor apt, i don't want to imagine haha^^;;
The problem is, if you're not trained for it, you may drown along with the victim.
well you don't always need to be trained to save someone from drowning, i wasn't trained as a lifeguard, but i still saved my friend from drowning because she got a 취? uhh.. whats that in english.. ohh my boyfriend said it's called "CRAMP" >__<;; foot cramp, my friend got that and she was drowning, and i was in same feet length of water too ^^ so i saved her when no one was around even though i was scared and shocked cause i thought she was just playing around >__<;;
i'm a lifeguard so i would definitely save the kid. fat or not i was taught to save them!
lol i kind of laughed when you said even that person is fat, cause it reminds me of my friend who almost got drown at the beach, he went too far by accident and my friend who is a lifeguard too, went to save him and since he weighed like 310lb >__< my lifeguard friend weighs like 110lb and well he worked out, but still he was struggling and he couldn't help him >_______<;; so this girl lifeguard came to rescue and helped too o.o i kind of laughed cause that showed he was weak. i know it may not be funny to you, but my friends and i laughed and my lifeguard friend too, he felt so embarrassed XD =P

But if he was surrounded by some great white sharks, I'd probably just lend him a giant stick (and poke sharks away at the same time) or throw a floater as a sign of sympathy.
I was trained to swim in oceans (ocean diving with license <--- Yes we have license) but I'm not Steve Irwin to mess around with deadly creatures to save a random's *bleep* unless it's my girlfriend's.
Some people are acting like they got drowned. So when I "save" them, I just throw them back in the water and let them die even if they are drowning for real this time.

I should learn though. Seriously though I'm like a flotation device just latch on to an arm or leg and we're good!
unless it's a huge river then there's nothing I really can do except call for help and follow where he's going to try and help
him/her catch a branch etc.

so i'd get a stick and fish the kid out, and if that dosen't work
jump it, i wouldn't want to kill the kid just waiting for someone.
though, my younger sister was that kid once and i jumped in the water
when i couldn't even swim and my feet barely touched the ground and
tried to grab a hold of her. it was so sadd, but this lady fished us both
out. she grabbed my hand and i held onto my sister's arm and yah.
she just .. pulled us up? cause we were both drowning at that point.

I can't swim so if I even attempted to save him,
I'd pretty much kill him and myself ><

Let's also hope you're not gonna end up hanging on a floating corpse too...

So damn hard swimming with a person your own size or bigger x____X (yes I tried cause we had to practise saving people from drowning)
But if it was an older person I would too. I'd just scream for someone to get help before I jumped xD

At least four or five years ago, my sister was at a house party?
I dunno, some party.
She wasn't in the pool area, but there was actually a report that a kid drowned in the pool the next day.
She couldn't swim either, though.

i dont think there is much of a question for people who know how to swim tho.
like a few bucks of laundry money and uncomfortable wet boxers for a life, there isn't really much to think about lol.
but if u cant swim... there is no use jumping into the pool and having 2 people die instead of one LOL
