Okay so i just read an article where they said that people where thinking about making people pay for certain internet "packages" like cable. Like a package for news, news + search engines, news, search engines, and youtube/myspace/face book types. I think that the idea is like ttl bs but just wondering what everyone else thinks and if it is even a real possibility. It would be safer internet w/o that many predators and whatnot but i mean think of the common people would they be able to afford this? My family would be ok so it wouldn't trouble me but some ppl barely have cable tv! I just find it infuriating and that the ppl seem like money sucking leeches!
idk if this was brought up already
sorry if it is i'm kinda slow on news
just redirect me the topic it if it already exists
thanx

Are you referring to net neutrality?
There are many sides to net neutrality, some say good others say bad if you're bored you can look at some of the sides of it http://consumerist.com/search/neutrality/neutrality/
Im not sure what my take on it is... I just hope our internet stays the way it is.

Isn't net neutrality the opposite of this issue? Net neutrality is the principle that Internet users should be in control of what content they view and what applications they use on the Internet. I honestly think all this talk of restriction through subscription isn't going anywhere. The reason the Internet managed to become what it is today is due to the lack of a uniform business model

I can probably elaborate for pages on why this is utter nonsense, but I won't. Proving ignorance wrong is futile. In a nutshell, such an event would bring forth all sorts of political, social, and economic impact. All under the assumption that Telco companies would actually make a few extra bucks doing this? Let's be real. Could one be really that narrow minded and naive? <~~ This isn't targeted to the common user. Its to those who are supposedly educated on the subject matter at hand and actually believe in this nonsense.
Anyway.. in the worst case scenario??? Possibly the emergence of simplified Internet packages which cost less for such a "restricted" service. Whats wrong with that? By no means the "end of the Internet as we know it today",
This is what happens when people who live their lives on the Internet have too much free time on their hands.

Mumbo jumbo.
That's not really considered dooms day for the internet haha. i think so anyways. But paying for the internet "packages" may be kind of unfortunate.
A dooms day for the internet would be using up so much bandwidth that it literally collapses on itself.
*didn't the mayans say 2000 was the end of the world or something?
nothing happened. lol. and now 2012, if it happens it happens.
