lol...that really depends who you go to. Sometimes the waiting period could be only few mins, sometimes it'll take an hour.

Don't get clear, white, or green. White turns yellow and green looks like you have spinach in your teeth.
I always got silver.

you have to have a meeting with the ortho first & they tell you about your teeth & how braces work.. i think i got mine a like a week from the first appointment to when i actually had the braces.
for colors, i'd get baby blue, pink, nothing dark if you dont want to stand out that much. cause when i got red, green, navy, it was really noticeable.

Braccceees.
Hmmm i don't know what you mean by the "waiting period", but i do remember the first time i went, the orthodontist just looked @ my teeth, told me what he was going to do to correct them, approx. how long it would take, and the price estimate. Then afterwards the first "official" appointment was made and basically he just put spacers (don't know if that's what they're called but they're basically little plastic things they put in between some teeth to create some room before they actually put the braces on your teeth) in, i had to fill out a bunch of forms, then made another appointment around 4 days later. (that's when the braces officially go on)
I'd suggest you to try all the colors! I mean, what's the fun of getting braces if you haven't tried "Neon Green" or "Mediterranean Blue"? biggrin.gif (some of my friends who had braces only got silver/clear...i think that's just a waste, i mean you spend $5000+ on those metal in your mouth, why don't you have fun with it?) Usually you wear braces for 2 years anyway, so that equals a lot of colour choosing!
Good luck!

i got the silver and the dark magenta pink.

usually mines happened fast. within a week or 2 i dont really rememebr cause it was a long time ago x]
but i do recomend that after you have all your work done with your braces, when thier off
WEAR YOUR RETAINERS! >__<;; i stopped using them & my teeth moved =[

Haha, it was so exciting when I first got braces, but I am so happy that they're finally off! tongue.gif

About the colours, DO NOT GET WHITE. I REPEAT, DO NOT GET WHITE. Biggest mistake of my life. So embarrassing. T~T (Yellow bands)

don't get white or clear! they look nice but if you really wanna get it, you have to watch what you eat and keep them clean like crazy.

before you get your braces, you have to get an xray and mold your teeth :X! then.. i think wait a week after?

hehe i recently just got my braces. but from waiting period..
hrmm it depends i guess on how your teeth is, my teeth was quite crooked so it took probably 2 months before i could get my braces. They did an x ray and such, had my spacers, then i had an expander and then they removed teeth, finally i got my braces XD

i right now have silver XD

I had my braces for 4 years and had it taken off a year ago.
For me, the waiting period was about a hour. They took a picture of my teeth and used this putty to make a model of them. But it varies from orthdontists to orthodontists.
For what color bands to get, I recommend sky blue or silver. DO NOT get white or clear because they can get dirty very easily.

Yes.

I have no idea. I'm pretty sure it varies.

also, what color would you recommend for the braces?
Nothing too light, and nothing too dark.
I always got ocean colors.

From my first visit to the orthodontist until I first got my braces was about 2 months.
But I had to make appointments to get 4 teeth pulled out and put my spacers in.

As for the colors, don't get white.
They're nice at first, but after a week or so they start getting "dirty".
Also, do NOT get neon green.
I got it for St. Patricks Day last year and it was so weird after a while x]
I'd say get silver
You can get alternating colors too [:

I think this belongs in the Health & Fitness section though o.o

Silver. Or Blue.

Blue makes your teeth appear whiter!

i always got silver or blue cause other colors were either too bright or made my teeth look yellower D:

i got my braces about two weeks after my first appointment but it depends on where you go. my orthodontist was really far from my house so i spaced out my appointments a lot ^^;

i don't remember the timing from consult to first appointment, but for colors, try not to get bands that are white, yellow, or clear. the clear just looks really bad especially after meals, and since when you have braces your teeth become less white, the yellow/white bands make teeth "griminess" kind of noticeable. i always got gray bands (so boring, lol).

In January (of 2006) I made a first call to the ortho.
In April I got my first (unofficial) appointment to see what I could do with my teeth and just ask the first questions.
In May I got my first 'official' appointment. From then on I got X-rays, those 'spacers'... and had monthly check-ups..
In August I got 4 teeth pulled out by my dentist.
In September I got my actual braces.

So yeah, it took a long time for me to actually get the braces. But it could've taken longer i guess. I live in the Netherlands and so many people here get braces, I now think that there is a shortage of orthodontists in our country (especially in the big cities, where I live). ph34r.gif

As for color. I always take the normal silver/gray ones. I'm now 22 with braces, I'm used to it, but don't need to stand out more.

About a few weeks because I had to get a few teeth taken out and all that.

Then they created a mold.

Like other people, stay away from clear or white and yellow and green. Don't be afraid to mess with the colors though because you'll be keeping the braces for two or so years.
