for colors, i'd get baby blue, pink, nothing dark if you dont want to stand out that much. cause when i got red, green, navy, it was really noticeable.

Hmmm i don't know what you mean by the "waiting period", but i do remember the first time i went, the orthodontist just looked @ my teeth, told me what he was going to do to correct them, approx. how long it would take, and the price estimate. Then afterwards the first "official" appointment was made and basically he just put spacers (don't know if that's what they're called but they're basically little plastic things they put in between some teeth to create some room before they actually put the braces on your teeth) in, i had to fill out a bunch of forms, then made another appointment around 4 days later. (that's when the braces officially go on)
I'd suggest you to try all the colors! I mean, what's the fun of getting braces if you haven't tried "Neon Green" or "Mediterranean Blue"?
Good luck!

About the colours, DO NOT GET WHITE. I REPEAT, DO NOT GET WHITE. Biggest mistake of my life. So embarrassing. T~T (Yellow bands)

hrmm it depends i guess on how your teeth is, my teeth was quite crooked so it took probably 2 months before i could get my braces. They did an x ray and such, had my spacers, then i had an expander and then they removed teeth, finally i got my braces XD
i right now have silver XD

For me, the waiting period was about a hour. They took a picture of my teeth and used this putty to make a model of them. But it varies from orthdontists to orthodontists.
For what color bands to get, I recommend sky blue or silver. DO NOT get white or clear because they can get dirty very easily.

Yes.
if so, how long is the waiting period from the first appointment to actually getting brace?
I have no idea. I'm pretty sure it varies.
also, what color would you recommend for the braces?
Nothing too light, and nothing too dark.
I always got ocean colors.

But I had to make appointments to get 4 teeth pulled out and put my spacers in.
As for the colors, don't get white.
They're nice at first, but after a week or so they start getting "dirty".
Also, do NOT get neon green.
I got it for St. Patricks Day last year and it was so weird after a while x]
I'd say get silver
You can get alternating colors too [:
I think this belongs in the Health & Fitness section though o.o

i got my braces about two weeks after my first appointment but it depends on where you go. my orthodontist was really far from my house so i spaced out my appointments a lot ^^;

In April I got my first (unofficial) appointment to see what I could do with my teeth and just ask the first questions.
In May I got my first 'official' appointment. From then on I got X-rays, those 'spacers'... and had monthly check-ups..
In August I got 4 teeth pulled out by my dentist.
In September I got my actual braces.
So yeah, it took a long time for me to actually get the braces. But it could've taken longer i guess. I live in the Netherlands and so many people here get braces, I now think that there is a shortage of orthodontists in our country (especially in the big cities, where I live).
As for color. I always take the normal silver/gray ones. I'm now 22 with braces, I'm used to it, but don't need to stand out more.

Then they created a mold.
Like other people, stay away from clear or white and yellow and green. Don't be afraid to mess with the colors though because you'll be keeping the braces for two or so years.
