Just wondering if any one out there are planning to major/ majoring in Linguistics..
I am planning to major Linguistics at UC Santa Cruz...so would like some advices and opinions from you guys ^.^

What field of linguistics are you in? What specifically do you like/dislike about it ? What are the schools that are specifically good or focused in certain field of Linguistics?

Is linguistics generally good for people who just like learning languages but don't have a solid background or interest as to how language is formed?

What are the potential jobs for a linguist? translator, interpreter, ambassador?, foreign service officer....professor?
