its only worth it if you're going to use the extra features it has.

Hackintosh is when you buy a standard PC and install a modified version of Apple OSX I believe it breaks the terms of use and is not legal but is theoretically possible. Generally unless you get a computer with that in mind, it will be a nightmare to deal with the drivers because Apple includes the drivers needed for their hardware so it was never designed to run on another computer.

I have a macbook pro, and my friend has a macbook.
And there is no way I would get a macbook after seeing the difference in the macbook pro.
Its got to be the best laptop you can purchase.

Depends on what you're using it for. Then again i managed to get a Factory brand new MBP for $1600 with free 2-day air off of eBay, when it'd have cost me $2000+ from the Apple Store biggrin.gif

i'd get a PRO if you could afford it. Not all laptops are fully compatible with mac, so you'd have to do some research on that.

Plain Macbook, purchased from the Apple website's refurbished section. Just as good, and you could come out with something pretty nice for under $800. I sell mine every year, buy a newer one, and am out about $200 each time. Basically, it decays to a $200/year laptop rental/lease.

Wait, so you sell your "old" refurbished computer then buy a "newer" refurbished one? Why did you decide to do that instead of just keeping one for a couple of years and not lose $200 each time you bought a new computer? I think I would get too attached to my computer to sell it after only a year. I was thinking about selling my iMac but I don't think it's value is worth a lot since I've had it for over six years and it's kinda slow. lol

200 dollars is a small price to pay to have the newest and latest.

depends on what you are going to use it for. If you're just using it for internet or text processing i say macbook is enough. But if you're using design programs like InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop,... then the macbook pro is the one you need.

But keep in mind some programs, like 3D Max, don't run on macs.
