I have to declare my topic to my honours advisor soon, and I was wondering how everyone else picked their topic. I'm writing mine soon. I'm a Chinese literature major. I want to center my thesis around feminism/depiction of women or criticism of traditional Chinese society. The only problem is that I don't know if I want to focus on poetry or prose, classical texts or modern texts and what author/authors.

For Anyone Who Is Writing/wrote Their Honours/bachelor's Thesis... How did you pick your topic?

I did my thesis paper for my freshman honors class on Vladimir Putin and the increasing authoritarianism in Russia post-Soviet Union.
It was something I was interested in. You should do a paper on anything you want that ranges from literature to politics. Analyzing a character in a classic or pop literature, or you could write a paper about Equatorial Guinea's corrupt regime. Really, just do anything you're interested in because it makes it much easier to write the paper.
