sooooo basically i love cars more than i love living in a normal shelter so right now my life looks like this:

cars>house>food.

opinions please. should i a)get another job to support my car, b)sell my rsx and use the s2k as a daily, or c)fcuk it, live in the car

has this ever happened to you guys? my rent keeps going up every year, my insurance is tolerable (150/mo), gas keeps going up, and my job pays me roughly 42k/yr (post taxes) <--this leaves me with roughly 550/month for gas and food (which barely covers me).

is my obsession with cars stupid.... sad.gif

scratch that, anyone in northern va wanna room with me so i wont be paying as much for rent?

sorry if topic seems pointless, im just really desperate for help :/

sell the car that costs the most to insure.. in this case, i'd keep the RSX as its more convenient than the S2000 IMO although the S2000 is sechs haha.. but yea.. thats what i'd do.. or.. sell them both and get a civic or something cheap?

Don't sell either Cars.

Cars are the worst investments possible(financially).

So since you already have 2 cars, you should keep them.

Not buy 2 cars, sell one, and buy another one later.

You see what I'm trying to point out there? Keep both cars.

On the other hand, I don't know which car you're getting better MPG in, but start using that car instead.

Either that....or try to bus to work, if it is realistic.

Don't live in your car either. Either find a cheaper place to stay at, or start rooming up with some people.

But don't go homeless.....that is pretty low. Plus normal day to day life things will get complicated.

How will you shower, and etc....and poop.

I hope you take what I bothered to type out into consideration.

Let me know if you have any questions.

i thought you said the s2k CR was on order and hasnt arrived yet? did it arrive already? (im assuming it didnt cause if it did then you probably wouldve made a thread about it. just basing that off since you like to let the forum know in every other thread that you are getting it)

you make 42K a year but car payments on a measely $24K RSX is giving you problems? even with crappy credit... at most you are paying is 500 bucks a month. maybe your problem is not an obsession with cars, but a problem of money management. that or a problem of trying to be better than people (ie your bf) which is prettay dam idiotic

also the g can already run mid 13s stock and the hks intakes adds an estimated 10 extra hp and the exhausts add like 8 so yeah it should shove off about 1.5 to 2 sec off my times

i paid for my rsx up front, so i'm not making payments on it. its the payments on the s2k that are killing me. i havent received it yet, but when i placed the order they required 5k down so i charged it - thats what i've been paying so far.

^ Boost is right. I'm guessing that you don't know how to manage your money + life...and that's plain stupid Not your "obssesion with cars". I choose C since you like to show off (brag) instead of not knowing how to manage yourself and your money... crazy.gif

I would keep the S2000, but if one of your cars is already paid off (RSX-S)... I would keep that one (NO PAYMENTS FTW!!!).

If not, sell the RSX-S, take the money, pay it against the S2000. Save up $10 bucks a day and get a beater by the end of the year.

Maybe you could pick up a partime job for some extra spending cash... tutoring on the weekends for a few hours, maybe being a waiter for a few nights a week, etc. etc.

If you want to be vain and care what other people think, have to be one of the fastest chicks on the road, get the attention, etc. etc.... get the $ first. If you are financially struggling but drive a pimpn S2000.... financially - you are not very smart. Cars are not investments!

There is more to life than just cars. We are all car fanatics, but get your priorities straight first.

If I were you.... I'd scratch the new S2000, keep the RSX-S, get a used Miata, NA8C FTW.

the rsx isnt a type s, its a base auto for dd.

jihyepii and boost, its not that i dont know how to manage money. i dont buy excessive things like clothes and eating out like other kids. 2500/month sounds like a lot of money but the cost of living in nova is pretty damn high. the area that i live in is ranked as one of the top 20 most expensive areas to live, in the nation.

dont tell me to move, if i try to move to lower rent and bills and gas, i would need to move at least 2 hours away, and my job would be too far then.

To live comfortably you have to give something up. If you won't give anything up, then you won't live as you want to. :/ It's as simple as that.

Though it seems kind of weird that you have 550$ usually left over and don't have enough for gas and food? Just speaking from personal experience, but right now I only spend 450$ at most for me and my boyfriend to survive comfortably and it still gives us some of our own cash left over. blink.gif

and how is this not poor money management? you put a 5k downpayment on your credit card and that is already giving you problems. are you paying a 1/4 of that amount each month with a 89% apr? If a 5k charge is already giving you problems... I can't imagine how you would feel if/when the car gets delivered and you are stuck with a 35k bill.

if this isnt poor money management... I don't know what is. unless you are exagerrating your whole situation for attention

This is the solution: Sell the base rsx, pick up a civic. With the leftover money, pay the S2000, pick up a second job. or marry rich.

How do you make $42k/yr, struggle and think that's not poor money management?

I make $35k/yr, have a 5 month old baby, am married (but my hubby is a stay at home dad), I have two car payments ($316 and $417), car insurance $250 quarterly, house mortgage of $300, utilities, etc. and we still have spending money left.
I don't get any federal/state assistance, no WIC, or anything and we're doing ok.

I don't exactly know your situation, but what's pulling you down are your luxuries. So that's your problem and even if we give you any advice you probably aren't willing to take it anyway, so is there a point to your post?

You make about 3500 per month

Assuming your rent is no more then 1200, since your living on your own.
Car payment =500 per month + 150 insurance
Gas=400 per month

You should have atleast 700$ left spend on food.

Or go live with ur bf, and rent should cut in half..or go live with parents then rent is non existant.

Option 1: re-finance
Option 2: Get rid of your S2000.
Option 3: Get rid of your RSX.
Option 4: Get rid of both cars and buy a beater to save gas.
Option 5: Option 4 + Get out of NoVA because people love to steal Hondas.
