Eyesight Question

Is it true that if you play on the computer or watch TV with no lights on, it's bad for your eyes? My parents keep telling me this, but I don't know if it's true or not.
Last time I went to get my eyes checked, the eye-doctor said your eyesight depends solely on your genetics, and not on environmental factors. I've been wondering
this because I've noticed that my eyes are noticeably getting worse faster now that I'm on my computer with no lights on.

Trust your doctor.
The only downside from watching TV/using the computer in the dark is that it will cause you to strain your eyes needlessly. No permanent damage will arise from doing so.

My parents tell me this too, but I've heard that that's really not the reason haha.
It's probably from straining your eyes or something... but honestly, computers... tvs... they do NOT affect your vision.

I've always thought it was true.
I have no idea why though.

My parent said that watching TV/going on the computer/reading/writing is bad for your eyes if there are no lights on.
Because it's hard for you to see and you're making your eyes work harder.

Also, if you wear glasses or contacts, they might be the problem or so I've heard.
They steadily make your eyes worsen. That's why you have to change perscriptions often.
I think.
But yes, your eyesight's from genetics, not the computer or tv.

I do it all the time and I'm near sighted but I don't think it's enough to make you blind. I think it depends on the person too, my brother plays computer at night all the time and his sight is alright but as for me my site is getting pretty bad.

i read this article on yahoo that said if u watch the TV or use the computer for too long without proper lightning it will cause something like electrical eye syndrome.. lol,, sorry dont take my word for it, i cant remember the name much... but sometime when i use the computer too much without light, my eyes start to see black spots and tears start flowing... around my eyes start to hurt n the eyeball hurt as well... sometime when i open my eyes, i cant see anything for a few second.. it scare the heck out of me.. so i just take breaks from using the computer (like 5~10 minutes) and have proper lights. it wouldnt hurt anyone n especially my eyes
