Are you good at public speaking?

Having grown under a ROK Marine as a Dad, I did not get to speak up much. Now I am raising my children, I want to do better with my kids. Are you good at public speaking? Were you born that way? Or, did you take many speech or debate classes?

No, I suck at public speaking. I can form sentences perfectly fine in my head but it's not quite as articulate when it actually comes out.

Luckily it's not required at my school to take public speaking although it would understandably help you a lot in life.

Few people are born public speakers. (I know someone who LOVES it. lol)
For most, it's something that has to be learned.

I think... it depends on the child and their level of confidence.
I was shy, so I never spoke up much.
But I took some acting/public speaking classes, and I have to say that they improved my confidence and public speaking immensely.

I would say I'm pretty decent. I used to tremble soo much and my throat would dry up. But now, it's whatever to me. So I'm a lot more confident. =] Didn't have to take any classes whatsoever. I guess I just got used to it.

Hahaha...

I'm not afraid to speak, but I will start saying very long sentences b/c I'm nervous and I overcomplicate the message I try to point out.

im a horrible public speaker. im a naturally reserved person i guess. in my head i have these really clear and concise thoughts but once it comes out of my mouth it doesnt come out the same at all. . . and if im nervous, i forget what i was saying and stutter. sucks a lot. i need a lot more practice i guess.

I'm a reserved person as well, but I'm a natural public speaker. It's something I had to overcome with time and practice.

I'm good, but I strongly dislike public speaking. ><
I think it mostly depends on confidence (in yourself and in your topic) & how good you are at communicating your feelings through words.

speech classes were mandatory at my high school & college, so i've taken my fair share of classes.

i'm not very good at public speaking. i do a lot of verbal pauses (the ums). i think public speaking is just something you have to learn to try to overcome. don't let the fear control you. i went to a public speaking lecture where the speaker basically said you have to be confident and know what you are speaking about, and he said to pretend that you can do it and then eventually you will believe that you can. it sort of worked for me.

I'm pretty decent in this area. Maybe its cause I'm alittle more outgoing than the average person.

In short: No. If I have to get up in front of a group of people I can. Though I'd rather not have to face that fear very often.

I'm ok at it, I think. I still suck at it, but I'm learning to overcome my fears. Don't chuck me in front of a crowd though. D:
