Unlocking Sidekick Lx?

hi!
i'm thinking of buying a new sidekick lx.
problem is i have at&t.
i'm thinking of unlocking it myself.

&i was wondering if anyone knows what might happen if it doesn't work out.
would it just reset to original?
or would it be messed up & i wouldn't be able to resale it?

From what I heard and read around the internet. The sidekicks cannot be unlocked.

It wouldn't matter even if you could unlock it. It doesn't have the 850 band that ATT runs on so it wouldn't work with ATT.
