anyone here do tae kwon do?
i use to do it, long time ago, but i stopped.
having watched all these tae kwon do videos, such as the one on metacafedotcom, just type in "Tae Kwon Do Demonstration" on the search bar, and its the first one, i want to start back up again.
so anyone know any good places?
i did ATA, but i hated it. too watered down for me. i want straight up close to traditional tae kwon do as possible. similiar to korea. none of this sugar coated crap where you see 14 year olds with black belts...maybe its just me.
anyway, i dont care if its WTF or ITF, though ITF does look fun, with the different sparring gear.
and wat the heck, while were at it, feel free to add your personal resume with TKD.
haha im sort of curious to see how the soompiers do TKD.

Aw, I've always wanted to start doing Tae Kwon Do. It seems so hard-core. xP The only thing that's kept me from pursuing it is that my parents don't want me to come home with a bunch of bruises.

learn combat style tkd.
i doubt u can find a school to teach it tho.
just learn it from old men who had it passed down from old times
my grandpa was one of founding heads of HID in korea, its kinda like hte korean CIA but its more military style then that, and he's skilled.
this way even if ur 100 years old u'll never get a black belt!

Think about all the things in this life that hurts you... do not do those things.

i'm taking TKD beginner's class from kim's academy at the ymca
juz started at the beginning of june, idk what kind it is. basically i'm a white belt
i suck at kicks like side kick and back kick, but i'm learning
i feel like i'm being ripped off cuz they charge a lot for a lot of stuff...but i'm bored so i'm taking the class anywayz.
i kno what u mean..i saw a kid that looked like he was less than 10 w/ a black belt...and master kim's lil niece who looks 6 or 7 has a black belt w/ loads of patches on her uniform..it makes me wonder if they're that good.
wat's ATA, WTF, and ITF?

yeah i know...it pisses me off. gives the korean tkd a bad name..haha
ITF and WTF are the two main, leagues (i guess thats wat you call them) associated with tae kwon do.
ITF was the original one, until the founder was banished from korea, forgot why, and then korea made WTF, which is essentially the same thing.
when they spar though, they have different gear. what you see in the olympics and on tv and youtube, with all that padding and helmet thing, thats WTF. Its mainly a point system game.
ITF is when they have no gear, but they have gloves and feet padding.
its just preference. I want to do ITF since its a lot less common. everyone now days does WTF.
ATA is just another one of those. ATA stands for American TKD Association. i think.
so watered down though...like every other group here in america.
