I wanna buy my sis karaoke revolution japanese edition but i'm scared it won't work on my ps2. what can i do to make sure that it works? or dosen it work without the aid of an external device?

you need to check what region your ps2 is and what the game is. unless your ps2 has be altered to play all regions its unlikely to work.

i think you can use something like swap magic to play other region games (insert swapmagic cd, insert karaoke revolution, then play?). either that or modding it.
