ok, so my sister has corneal ulcer right now and its the really bad kind cuz shes stupid and didnt decide to tell my mom her eye was hurting until it SERIOUSLY started to hurt. its supposedly really common with night contact wearers (which she wears).
so if anyone had this before or know anyone who did, care to tell me how it affected your eyes. im REALLY REALLY scared that my sis will go blind from it. and if she doesnt go blind, how much with this affect your vision in the future. plus, how long did it take to heal?
fyi, my sis is 12 and she has seen the doctor.

Ok, I have never heard of this topic but I wish your sister the best and for an immediate cure!

Did you read anything about this online?
My eyesight started to get really bad so I'm an avid reader of eyesight problems and have heard about these night contacts, but not this peculiar thing.
You've said that she's seen the DOCTOR? How about an optometrist? I read the emedicinehealth article and there are drops to reduce the pain. The cause of this corneal ulcer is infections and some viruses. There's also treatment at home, which is just really cooling relief.
About your sister seeking medical care late, it surely must've started out as something minor? Read the article, there's also cases of discharge too (this is just the section "When to seek medical care")

I'm sorry I couldn't help much; my mother has astigmatism and was thinking of using these contacts but has no idea what the consequences can be. I've been trying to convince her and my entire family to do eye exercises to take off stress and strain on the eye.
And once again, I hope for a quick and full recovery for your sister! Please, tell us how it goes.

i had it before. i have astigmatism in both eyes... it went away after 3 years. o____O
it didn't hurt....i don't know why your sister's hurts... my prescription has stayed the same for 3 years now. so it doesn't really affect your eye health. after awhile it just becomes a lump..that you can't really see but you can feel.

it really depends on the severity of the corneal ulcer - if its deep enough, it may cause severe pain and permanent scarring - meaning that yes, vision will be lost. conversely the corneal nerves can be killed off so the person may feel nothing... [which can happen a lot with continuous contact lens wear - the corneal nerves are desensitised]. if it is superficial then with correct treatment it may be able to resolve with minimal damage and vision can be preserved.
bottom line is, if you are wearing contacts overnight, you must be VERY VERY CAREFUL with your wearing schedule and maintenance of your lenses, to prevent bacterical infection and to allow adequate oxygen flow to the cornea....changing contacts to a type that has greater permeability could be an option.
