she IS with SM. at least SM trained her. she may not be in the typical rythm zone or avex company but she is linked to SM. Lee SooMan made a speech about her when she debuted about the same dang thing he always talks about when SM rolls out newbies. how they are going to conqure the world. lol... but he was saying how SM trained her a little bit in korea but then sent her to japan to train the rest of the time so that they can market in japan. then slowly she will debut elsewhere. he also mentioned about jang riin in this speech. he said that he has a girl similar to youna that chinese and will be the next chinese boa. (he said she was going to be the next japanese boa)

she may be in a different record lable but her management company is SM i believe.

Younha Tops Online Music Charts

All the songs on the new album from singer Younha, who currently performs both in Korea and Japan, have entered domestic online music charts just three days after the album’s release.

Earning the nickname of “Oricon comet,” Younha introduced her music to her domestic fans via the Internet on September 18 by releasing her new album, entitled “Go! Younha.”

On September 20, the third day since the album’s release, all of the songs from the album reached top spots of online music charts. In the case of the music portal Web site Melon, all 13 songs from Younha’s album entered the top-32 of the J-POP chart, with “Motto Futarite” topping the chart, “Houkiboshi” taking third place and “Aioi Lemon” finishing ninth.

“Houkiboshi” (“Comet”), which also entered Japan’s Oricon chart, topped the J-POP chart of Cyworld for two days in a row on September 19 and 20.

The song “Orange-no Hatsukoi” (“The Love of Orange”) leaped from the 68th spot to 30th, while five of Younha’s songs from her new album ranked in the top-5 of Cyworld’s J-POP chart.

Younha’s new album broke the top-10 of the daily Oricon chart when it was released in Japan, with nine out of the total 13 songs having been featured in Japanese TV shows, games and movies as theme songs.

She is a really good singer. I can't believe she's only like 18 though...
Although technically "Houkiboushi" was her first song I heard (having listened to it while watching bleach of course), it was actually "Te wo Tsunaide" that made me aware of her existence. I thought that song was so beautiful. She's really pretty too.

I heard from Wikipedia that she debuted in Korea on October 5, 2006, but I haven't heard any news at all. :blinks:

Also, I really liked the Korean versions of her songs, especially Ima ga Daisuke, so I'm expecting a lot from her upcoming single.

Actually, sorry this is off topic, I looked into things and K debuted in Korea in 2004. He just never became that popular. It wasn't a single either, it was a full album. O_O

I'm pretty sure she was born in South Korea and lived there for most of her life.

I think she lives with her manager or something in Japan...but she travels inbetween both Korea and japan.
