I heard that carrot do help your eye sight but only night vision... correct me if wrong but I think so.
My friend told me to drink milk because that helped her friend to not get glasses and that corrected her vision.

I heard it was just some dumb story created during world war 2, when lights kept going out as a result of air-raids.

i don't think it help 'improves', just prevents your eyes from getting worse as you're getting older.
it's more effective if you eat it when you're little, when your whole body is still developing.
Both of my parents wear glasses.
I ate LOTS of carrots when I was little, because it's my favorite veggie.
I do things that's bad for my eyes, like I sit in front of computer and TV for at least 10 hours everyday, I still have 20/20 eyesight

It doesn't "improve" your eyesight...just helps prevent it from getting worse, or in most cases, slow it down.

I remember my Home Ec. teacher telling me that it doesn't help with "eyesight" but rather "healthier eyes".

I'm not sure about carrots but I also heard that bananas are a good source for your eyes too.

Your eyesight won't improve. All it can do is prevent your eyes from getting worse. Vitamin A (which is generally what carrots are known to provide) is used by the eye to see.

idunno about you guys but mexican food is probably the best in preventing eyesight loss.

idunno what it is, maybe its the tomatoes or the beans but you rarely see mexicans
wearing glasses. so im guessing it's in their food.

Carrots have a lot of vitamin A which has a variety of metabolic functions in the body including:
* Vision
* Gene Transcription
* Immune Function
* Embryonic Development and Reproduction
* Bone Metabolism
* Haematopoiesis
* Skin Health
* Reducing Risk of Heart Disease and Cancer
* Antioxidant Activity
(thank you wikipedia for that extensive list)

While I don't think you should rely solely on carrots to improve your vision, I think it will help it from getting worse? And, also, on wikipedia and from my bio class lol, if you lack vitamin A, your night vision will suffer.

yeaah, vitamin A is needed in the chemical processes that occur in your eyes during night time - but the amount that is present in carrots hardly makes an impact, so its not like you will suddenly see much better if you eat a whole lot of carrots.

I learned that they don't IMPROVE eyesight.
They just help maintain it.

I thought night vision was how you look at things after 30 seconds, because that's how long it takes your eyes to adjust to different light?

back to topic: it IS good for eyes, not sure if it improves it or not though lol.

Actually, I heard on radio that carrots don't really improve your vision. They just maintain it.

The carrot-is-a-miracle-eyesight-improver fact is actually unfounded, cause' it's said that the fact was told by the British to the Germans during WW2 so that they wouldn't find out that the British were using radar to detect their bombing raids.

So basically, carrots don't help improve damaged eyesight cause' it's just a rumor from long long ago.
