Now that I think about it though, my favorite Miyazaki film, Lupin III: Castle of Cagliostro is not a Studio Ghibli film and my favorite Ghibli film, Grave of the Fireflies, is not a Miyazaki film. Go figure. But yeah, once you run out of options go and watch these two as well.

i'm a HUGE fan of Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli!!
I would definitely recommend Laputa (Castle in the Sky) - it's a must watch - hands down!
Then Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away
One thing as to why i LOVE ghibli movies is because the soundtracks are ALWAYS one of a kind and catches your attention straight away

anyways, my favourite miyazaki has got to be My Neighbour Totoro <3 I've probably seen it as many times as i've seen Beauty & the Beast (my fav Disney animation - i've seen it at least 50 times). i also reallllly like pom poko and kiki's delivery service (so cute!!)
If you can handle gory scenes, then Princess Mononoke and Nausicaa are good choices - they've both got good storylines but a bit gross sometimes XD
eeks - this thread has made me wanna watch all the ghibli-miyazaki stuff again

I completely misjudged by the DVD cover,
because the old woman on the cover had turned me off.
But I watched it, it was SO GOOD.

i grew up watching Totoro and Laputa: Castle in the Sky (amazing)
i would suggest "Whisper of the Heart" very cute love story but he was the screenwriter for it ^__^
my favorite one in the more recent movies has to be "Howl's Moving Castle" ahhhh so good!

I love Whisper of the Heart. some might find it dragging but I find the pacing of it soothing.
Howl's Moving Castle is my favourite too. in fact, i think i like it more than Diane Wynne Jones' story.
I cried in Spirited Away. I keep calling it a bittersweet ending. I love Haku so much.
after Howl though, my 'favouritest' Miyazaki/Ghibli guy is Amini cooperaka [Mononoke-hime]. cool, tough, heroic.
and I just realized I've watched all Miyazaki-Ghibli films. I shouldn't miss Ponyo when it comes out. Miyazaki and team used pencils instead of computer for the graphics. amazing, eh?

ps. i wonder if he's now on speaking terms with his son? Earthsea wasnt bad but it definitely lacked something... the animations were amazing though.

keep your head UP!

I love Joe Hisaishi's works (does the music for most...if not all...of Miyazaki-Ghibli films)
in order to refresh my memory of these songs...and Daishi Dance's remixes, i've decided to watch all the Miyazaki-Ghibli films again!
i grew up watching Kiki's Delivery Service and loooved Spirited away. (no face is the cutest thing ever)
yesterday I watched My Neighbor Totoro (watched it once when i was really small) SOOOO CUUUTE!
now off to watch Howl's Moving Castle

yeah i think they were on speaking terms since u know, alot of pressure is on his son because he has to carry his legacy. i saw earthsea too but i wasn't as moved in that film compared to his father's. Then again it's his first! hehe
whisper of the heart was very good i didn't think it was slow at all it was very romantic in a cute way ^___^;; my favorite guy character would be Howl his personality was just SO FUNNY.. melting because his hair color was different? hahaha!!! he's also very charming and mysterious ^___^;;
i keep thinking grave of the fireflies is also done by him because it's also reallly goood! but it isn't ^___^;; wow i cried a river watching GOTF.

I also have the hardest time picking which between those two I like more ^^!
Howl is agreeable hot for an anime character haha.
I have both movies...I think I'm going to re-watch it now.
Kiki's Delivery Service is also one of my favorites by him because it was my very first.
Loved it <3...

heyy thanks to ur recommendation i watched Whisper of the Heart. Its soo cute hahaha...it makes me wish i can find my soulmate that way tho xD too bad they didnt hav many scenes of the main boy
Yea I still cant decide whether I like Howl more or Haku more
And yea, Spirited away has a bittersweet ending. I always feel sad after I watch it (I think i've watched it at least 6 times lol.) It's kind of a forbidden love since Haku is a spirit and Chihiro is a human so I dont think they can ever meet again =( Saddest ending T_T
Studio Ghibli produces so many good anime movies. Im goin to watch "Only yesterday" now. It seems kinda sad.
