this is my first time in the tech thread so im not sure if there is already a thread on this particular "ROGUE ANTI SPYWARE".

im such a tech dummie and a few days ago my other laptop got all these popups about some WINDOWS ANTIVIRUS 2008 and it changed my homepage and i just cant change it back!

i almost cried yesterday cuz i just couldnt figure out what to do next. AHHHHH!

i went on some websites and the directions for taking it out of my computer "manually" didnt work. and it told me to download SPYWARE DOCTOR (i downloaded the free one that comes with the google package thing.) but it scanned and everything but the thing's still there! it didnt remove it!

can anyone please help me on what i should do??? please? any kind of help is appreciated (and free if possible please...)

If you don't have a lot of important files, the best choice is to reformat the whole computer.

good luck

Its not too hard to manually remove I helped someone do that the other day http://ca.com/us/securityadvisor/pest/pest...d=453133191just go down the line and delete those files.

So when did this first start? If it was the other day, just do a Windows System Restore (Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System restore) and restore to a few days before all this started. That's the easiest thing to try before you go and erase everything or attempt to manually remove it.

http://www.malwarebytes.org

Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, install it, run a full scan, and delete everything it picks up.

This program is a godsend.

Maybe you could .. go to control panel (in start), then you go to "Add or Remove Programs" and look for what your trying to remove and yeah, could try that sweatingbullets.gif i use this to uninstall everything xD

Oh man. My mom got this on my computer somehow last night. I spent 5 hours trying to get rid of it. Firefox wouldn't work and IE would redirect me to more malware. Spyware Doctor removed stuff like you said, but the thing was still there. In the end, I just formatted. My computer was only two days old anyway. Haha.
