So I got accepted into a university (UW-T) and the place has no dorms. It is about a 30 minute drive from my house and my parents want me to live at home while commuting there.
Here's my "problem." I don't really know if I want to go to this university or just go to a community college. I don't know what major I want yet .. I just planned on taking my general studies my first year. Of course, it would cost way less for community college and I don't work, so I feel bad that my parents would pay for everything. I planned on transferring to a better university with dorms later on (2 years) which is another reason why I was thinking about a community college. Another thing I've been thinking about are the girls. No, I don't plan on going to college just for the girls but I do plan on getting a girlfriend during my college years. I have yet to have a girlfriend because I wanted to wait until college and find the right girl. A university would obviously have more girls and possibly more opportunities to meet girls because it has a larger campus (I'll probably be spending a lot of time at the library). Both the community college I was looking at and the university I got accepted to are pretty much the same distance from my house. Arrrggh I don't know which to go to. Any opinions?

I would go w/ your plan of community college, then transferring to a school you love, as opposed to settling for a school that you're not sure about...especially if the tuition is high and your parents are paying. I'm about to attend a private university this fall, and I feel awful about the price. I only decided on going b/c it was my ultimate dream school and was unwilling to give that up. If it were anything but my dream school, I would've settled for a decent public college.
As for the thing about girls, though it's true that you'd probably have more opportunities to meet them at a university, you can make your own opportunities. We're everywhere
! I'd recommend just going to any library to study (and meet girls who are also studying) or perhaps getting a job somewhere near the college or something. There are many opportunities, and they're not worth spending that much money on for college when there are other methods of meeting them, IMO.
Good luck!

community colleges are tricky. i'm not sure how it is in where you live but my friends who went to a cc here have been there a LONG time. sometimes classes they make you take may be unnecessary and can just bog you down, making your stay there longer than the one or two years you expected. although going straight into a university is much more expensive, you will adjust to the campus much easier being you will be there your total 4 (or more) years. Going to CSU Fresno (in CA) I have found that while the transfer student community is large there is less outreach, in terms of programs, aimed specifically at them. of course, colleges will differ from one to the next.
