It's exactly what the name says... milk and tea.

Or you can make it the way my mom does, tea with creamer.

I work at Tapioca Express.

We don't use milk to make out tea. We use soy based non-dairy creamer. You pretty much mixed that with your tea until you get your desired taste. I'm not sure about the proportions, but that's something you can figure out.

We usually start out with 3 ounces of creamer, and then add sugar and tea to that to your liking =)

Make sure your tea is very dark and very strong because adding the cream/milk (cream is better) will water it down even more since tea is essentially water.

It's best to use red/black tea since they are much stronger than green tea.

at cha for tea, i usually get the black almond milk tea. I found how to make it at home smile.gif
I use nestea's tea in a packet and make tea with it.
Then i use the... sweetener? I don't know how to say it in english but I call it nai you. It's the ones you buy from a can and it's super sweet. OH YEAH condensed milk! haha. I add as much as I want.
Then I add some almond powder! tada

I make Cantonese milk tea smile.gif

Dark [preferably 2 bags] of Earl Grey, black tea, or breakfast tea. And the key is having really dark coffee.
Brew, then cool for 2 minutes or so.
Get out any kind of milk, and add to taste.
Then sugar.

Okaaaaaaay... I must be bad at this "adding to taste" thing. sweatingbullets.gif

I tried making black milk tea, but it just doesn't taste as good as the one they make at boba places (ex. Cha for Tea). Please let me know where I went wrong or what I can try instead.

I made about 1 cup of strong black tea. After that, I took out regular 2% milk (maybe this is wrong? huh.gif ) and poured about 3 Tablespoons into the black tea and stirred. It became that light tan milky color. I then added like 1 Tablespoon of sugar into the tea and tasted. It was still bitter, so I put in another tablespoon of sugar. It was still oh so bitter and nasty. wacko.gif

So what are the proportions you guys use to make your black milk tea? How much milk & sugar do you guys mix into your tea? I'm afraid of adding too much milk or too much sugar.

At tea stations, I see them using cream... and something that looks like a clear syrup... is that important? huh.gif

I can't go to tea stations anymore... they're sooooo expensive! $3.50 for a black milk tea?! blink.gif

You need hot tea.
You need this too, simple syrup.
Boil white sugar and brown sugar together to make a nice syrup.
Add that to your tea.. and milk.
