Hair Problem Not much hair & not growing new ones.

I have to admit, around 2 years ago, I took on a VERY unhealthy diet. As a result, I lost A LOT of hair. It is more or less visible to others that I don't have much hair. My friend who has thick hair... I have around 1/3 - 1/2 of what she has.
After my hair is washed and blow dried, everything looks fine. But when my hair gets oily, that's when it becomes very noticeable.
However, it has been 1 1/2 year (hence, the diet lasted 6 months) that I've been eating normally/healthily and I'm doing regular exercise (I lead a pretty healthy life)
The problem: I still don't have much hair (it slightly improved, but not by a lot) and no new hair strands are growing.
What I mean by no new hair strands are growing is that, I do lose hair, and new ones do grow to replace them... but none are growing to replace those I lost during that period of unhealthy diet. Everything seems to be proportional, in the sense that when I lose hair, I don't lose many hair strands.
Also, when I was young, I had thick hair and A LOT of it (my elastics often broke under the pressure of my hair). But now, my hair is thin, very thin.
I'm thinking about going to see a dermatologist, but the waiting list are at least 3-6 months long. I also took a blood test, and they found nothing. Everything seems perfectly fine.
So does anybody have this sort of condition... or knows what on earth is going on?

Keilynn: How bad was your hair? because mine are pretty bad =/. My elastics can do like a lot of rounds around my hair.

So I searched for another method and started to use Kaminomoto and it got better.
I can't judge how bad your hair is because I havn't seen it yet. D:
But if it's really bad you should ask a doctor.

But now I'm taking multi-vitamins, eating alot of fresh fruits and vegetables (and no meat, since I'm vegetarian), and exercising 1 hour a day. I think it helped alot.
But I would still suggest you to go see a doctor or a dietian/nutritionist.

I recommended those because i've been active on this forum for a long time, that brand was mentioned quite often whenever I see hair-growth related topics.
yah, maybe the prescribed one works better for you.
Good luck !!

Hair loss is not cause by- -
-stress, although it helps it
-hormones (if your'e on birth control, etc.)
-genes
-hair coloring (I've colored mine countless of times)
-shampoo
Hope that helps a little bit.

To massage your hair just take your fingertips (not your nails) and rub them in circular motions all across your scalp while shampooing for a minute or so. Or you could try Dr. Scalp which is this hair massaging thingie.
