Skinny. what does it really mean?

A lot of people try to eat very little so they can become skinnier. But what does that actually result to? It results to a slower metabolism, a weaker immune system, and a weak body. So once you start eating a lot, you're going to get fat as hell because you're body's metabolism is jacked up for eating so little. most of these people(those that eat very little) are pretty lazy as well because they lack energy to do anything due to the lack of calorie intake.
But you can be skinny and fit at the same time. With exercise and a proper diet. It's simple really.. you eat a moderate amount, and then you exercise, run, weight lift, etc. if you love food and like to eat a lot, go right ahead. don't let this notion of becoming fat get to your head just because you eat a lot. you can still be healthy and eat a lot. all you need is proper exercise. take off 30minutes-1hour of your day to exercise. you'll feel more energetic during the day.
sorry if i came off in the wrong tongue or what not, but i really do care about people's health, and i hate it when girls think that being skinny is everything, because it isn't. (i'm a sucker for a girl that plays sports!)
p.s. keep in mind that i am talking about some, and not all skinny people.

I'm actually skinny and my immune system is almost perfect, I didn't get sick for more than 5 years now. Also, I eat regulary. My doctor said it's because I tend to "flounce" so my metabolism is good (duno in english), those people can really much but don't get fat after all.
As you already said, just do exercises to keep yourself healthy.
Girls want to be skinny because of the media influence I believe.
In my opinion curvy girls are prettier than those typical skinny ones.

I definitely agree with everything that's been said. I'm currently in China right now, and everybody wants to be skinny (mainly the young women who like following trends), but the skinny that is approved of is the kind that seems like one is starving, poor and unhealthy. I doubt these girls can run a mile or lift a 15-pound weight several times.

if someone doesnt eat meals and skips them to be skinny, OBVIOuSLY, thats bad.
but if someone can eat healthy food, exercise, then they could be healthy skinny.
I could eat all i want and just sit all day and i would never gain weight cuz of my metabolism.
but that would be boring.
Some people are just naturally skinny ya know?
i love food a lot.
im skinny but i can run a mile and stuff (although i hate running. its like im running running..and running?)
but i get what you mean.
if someone skips meals and is obsessed with being extremely skinny and dont have ANY plans on toning their body....it creeps me out.

But I agree with you. There's no point of being skinny if you're huffin and puffin after running a lap around the track.

^^;; i always get irritated when I say im out of shape, and people immediatley jump to the conclusion that it means "i need to lose weight" when really it means, I want to be able to run up flights of stairs again without feeling like Im about to pass out.
Wonder if any of that made sense ...

but i have tried losing weight the "healthy way" twice, i dont even touch fatty foods and exercising almost everyday of the week, plus i did sports, and i DID NOT WORK. i'm not lazy. it just doesnt work for me. and my immune system wasn't down, in fact i didnt get sick at all those 2 years.
so it simply depends on the person. however i highly dont recomment starving yourself. it's just not fun and you never want to do anything.

skinny historically is being unattractively thin: a figure of mostly skin and bone.
nowadays, especially in the West, we are so used to seeing heavy people that being just relatively slim is being called skinny.
but having excess body fat is in no way healthy, especially if it is accompanied by a lack of physical activity and there is noticeable accumulation of torso/abdominal fat.
example: imho, nicole richie at her tiniest was actually "skinny" but how she looks now is really quite fine.

AND, just because you're a little on the thick side doesn't mean you'll be healthier or stronger, lift weights, run the mile, etc....
But, I'm glad you are aware and concerned for the health of others. =)
